I'm unfamiliar as to what the TBG forums are, but I think that the only thing that is going to happen to them is that they will have a new look.

A section of the forums that is on a separate website where users can play text-based Ames together. It's awesome

It is part of the Scratch Website, just a different forum for them.
I hope they leave it as it is.
