It's a bit stupid. Until they tackle spam which costs billions a year. Also people who complain about it have three houses, and also they use piracy as an excuse to cease peoples freedom (CISPA SOPA etc). Before they whine about people being morally wrong they would sort their act out.

(I don't pirate by the way.)

Uh, most people who complain about it are just regular people.

But I agree that piracy should be legal.

I never said it should be legal. I said they should focus on spam and not use piracy as an excuse to take away freedom.

Forcing everyone to vote would just mean people who aren't interested in politics and have not much of an opinion can easily be brainwashed by the first party they see into voting for them.

And that is different than it is now?

It would be more extreme, it happens a lot now and would happen even more if that was true.

We had to write on this last year and the people saying it should be mandatory thought that if it WASN'T it would restrict peoples access to doing it.

That doesn't make much sense.

Re: Pirating - your opinions?

I don't feel it's morally correct, and I think it should be illegal as it's stealing someone's intellectual property. However, I don't think there should be huge consequences, or even jail time. They should have to pay however much they stole in damages.

"Or even jail time"? Of course not, if everyone who pirated was jailed then we'd be down like half a billion people.

Not everybody who pirates is in jail because not everybody who pirates is caught.

Jail time HAS been a consequence for pirating, which I think is unfair. I think that jail time should be limited to stealing things of large value and crimes that hurt people (murder, assault, etc).

Re: Pirating - your opinions?

Simply downloading illegal files is not punishable by jail time, as it is a civil offense. I think that you can go to jail for the felony offense of distributing copyright infringing works, though.

More pirates changes nothing about the Earth's temperatures.
Also, pirating isn't good, it's evil.

Pastafarians believe that the decline in pirates (not this kind, the other kind) is the cause for the incline in global temperature.
