When a grass Pokemon attacks, add grass to the list. If the trainers Pokemon type is water, double attack. If its fire half the attack etc. So, something like this:

I have a project with some sprites I am not using that I think you guys are really like. They are old, so they are fusions, but the parts in the splice are pretty well hidden (most of the time ).

Hey popopobob , since you are making the battle engine I am working on a whole new engine that doesn't glitch, doesn't have movement velocities only scroll X/Y and it's not all scrolls, I will explain once I upload it which will be a while

Probably another few hours being that I need to get a few maps integrated, implement sprites and scripts from my other engine, and that might be a while since I am not basing it off the old one but creating a whole new one. Edit: I will also try to make it as compatible as possible and I hope it doesn't interfere with any broadcasts/variables you have.
