Talk about 3d modeling here!

I'm currently making a hat for the Spy in Team Fortress 2.

Current progress, I NEED ADVICE ON HOW TO MAKE THE NOSE

End goal: http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/9456/grouchoq.jpg

Current progress after a few hours of blendering: http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/6867/render1v.png http://img687.imageshack.us/img687/7130/render2s.png - will be smoothed.

I don't get blender at all. I'll never be able to do that.

It's my birthday. Deal with it.

And even then, from what I've read, Blender is supposed to be easier than other modelling programs like Maya or 3DMax (sp?). The only thing I can think might be easier than Blender is Google Sketchup.

3dMax is okay. Not sure which one is easier.

Re: 3D Modeling

That's quite cool, I might have to try Blender out. I'm pretty sure I've use it before, though.

That's Spy ;P He probably took the TF2 model as a base.

Exactly, the only thing it's good for, imo, is quick sketches of buildings or furniture.

Re: 3D Modeling

Since in the picture you're using is a Roman nose then it would have sort of a lump in the middle. You should also maybe look at some other pictures of similar noses to see how they work. Also, noses like that have a sort of ridge in the middle that you left out.

Sketchup wasn't exactly meant for free style modelling. It is mainly for architects.
