How can I import GIFS as sprites that move?

When I try to import a GIF as a sprite that would actually move, it doesn't work! How do people get gifs in their project that move???????

Click new sprite.

Paint a dot or whatever and press ok.

Go to the costumes tab of the new sprite.

Drag the gif to the costumes area.

There!  smile

To import a GIF simply use the Scratch cat, drag the gif onto it, delete the cat costumes and add the script mentioned above  smile

As mentioned before, I already tried that and it did not work. You should read the whole thread before posting.

Maybe try using the import costume button instead of dragging.

Open the costume tab, click "Import", and then select the GIF file, it should work.

Other than this and the other suggestions given, I can't think of a reason why it wouldn't work for you. If that's the case, then you'll probably need an image editor and export each frame yourself or request for someone to split the frames for you.

The process should be the same across multiple OS systems.  hmm

Re: How can I import GIFS as sprites that move?

You will have to import the different frames of the animation as different costumes for the same sprite, then have it switch through the costumes.

Re: How can I import GIFS as sprites that move?

Not entirely sure, depends on where the animation is coming from. But you said gif, so I would assume that what you do, is you import the costume, go to the original .gif, change to the next frame, save it like that, import the next costume, and so on. I think that will work, but I'm not sure.  hmm

But there's no way on my computer that I know of to separate a gif into frames.

Re: How can I import GIFS as sprites that move?

I looked at a gif file, to see how an animated icon worked, and there were arrows near the botom of the screen to go to the next frame.
