Scratch 2.0 in HTML5

Once they get it completely finished, instead of using flash in which completely cripples 40% of the users (which use mobile devices or tablets), they can have it in HTML5.  And since it would evidentially it would take too long, I found this: http://www.flash-to-html5.net/?gclid=CI … QAod80qgWg  fast, free, and reliable, and completely easy to use.  This way, 99%-100% of Scratch's users will be able to use Scratch online on most any mobile device/tablet or computer!

Why do this?
Like I said, they are leaving 40% of users in the dust by making Scratch 2.0 in flash.  They are also killing their Search Engine Optimization, Google doesnt read flash.  And how many times do you really want to download an update for flash, there's a new one practically every week, it's almost as annoying as windows is!  Recreating the flash player for the project viewer would be just as easy as well!

I found a better one: https://www.google.com/doubleclick/studio/swiffy/ and roijac, it said it was only temporarily.

swiffy only supports AS2, and Scratch uses AS3

Re: Scratch 2.0 in HTML5

Swiffy currently supports a subset of SWF 8 and ActionScript 2.0.

You know Scratch uses AS3, right?

ninja'd.

Anyways, who wants to start up a collab to rewrite the Scratch player for HTML5 (and not have it die this time)

Re: Scratch 2.0 in HTML5

Do you really think that 40% of users currently use Scratch on Tablets and mobile devices? Tablets aren't great for Scratch projects - and of those, only the tablets running Apple OS are affected; Android, Unix and Windows based tablets will be fine. I would say that most Scratch users create their projects on computers (Mac, PC or Linux) which will all support flash.

I'll move the thread over to Suggestions now  tongue

I do.

I started one, and I got pretty far. It read in files from the Scratch alpha, and parsed them. I can upload it sometime.

Erm, since it's my base code, do you mind naming it something more like "Eternity Incurakai & DragonThunder: SCRATCHTML5," or something like that.

no, if you have your post reported by a number of different people, regardless of the reason, it is automatically blocked.

40%? Where did you get that number? It's more like 5-10% or maybe even less

Yeah, because most people on Scratch with iDevices also have access to computers.
