Re: Will Scratch 2.0 have a java player?

Since it appears the whole thing will be made in Flash, I doubt it.

Why would they? The Java player sucks, they're not gonna want to do even more work on something nobody will use.  tongue

I would use it!  I'm going to uninstall flash on my computer shortly.

tell me, when had you last used the java player?  They've done some upgrading on it.  It's a lot faster than it used to be.  It glitches way less than the flash player does as well.  And every five minutes, the flash player crashes.  It also takes a good five minutes to load.  The flash player sucks, thank you very much.

Oh yeah, were you the one who made the thread about protesting against Flash?

Well, in that case you may as well quit Scratch, because you won't be able to do anything without Flash (apart from the forums).

I use Firefox on Linux 12.04.  Accessibility, one of the pillars of web design, is pretty low here.

I think you'll find that the Flash player will work significantly better when projects are both made and viewed in the same application both offline and online. That's one of the advantages of the move to Flash.  smile

I also hope that saying you have "Linux 12.04" was a simple slip-up.  tongue

I've had issues with Flash on Ubuntu, although I don't know why. 32 or 64-bit?

I've never had problems with it on a 64-bit machine. Maybe you've only had the 32-bit version of Java?

Yeah, i went to this one programming camp last year.  They had java on 64-bit computers, and it was faster than ever.

Linux 12.04? Wow, I thought the Linux kernel version was still 3.2.
