I have found that the lag while playing the game is unacceptable. As a result I will spend hours optimizing it to make sure that it will run at full speed online. Sorry for the delay.
How exactly are you going to be optimizing it?
And does the Scratch Connections actually work? I don't want to download the whole Adobe AIR thing if it isn't worth it.

Well as for optimizing, I found that the only things that were causing lag was the amount of costumes and the total size of the scripts on the player sprites. Now each player sprite's scripts and costumes are for the 8 different characters that are part of the sprite. By splitting up the characters into their own sprites I eliminated the issues causing lag.
For some reason in scratch, having many scripts and costumes on one sprite is bad, but it is not a problem if they are spread out.
As for scratch connections, the game will use the new mesh feature from scratch 1.4. This requires nothing except your scratch 1.4 installation. I know that no one really wants to install air.
This is how it will work when you host a room.
click the host game in the game menu
hold shift then click share
click host mesh and set your username to host
get your friend to join your mesh server as username guest
the game detects that another user has connected and the game begins

Sometime in the summer probably
I think it will be the best game on the site but I am not sure about top loved or most viewed. A lot of the stuff on the toplists isn't that great.

Where do you download the beta 1.4, or are you making the project in anticipation of its release?

You can't download the beta 1.4, as it was released on Scratch Day.

isnt this project gonna take up a crapload of space? also check out my super smash bros, its similar but all the characters are taken from scratch games, for example morash from demon slayer (if you've played that) and doodle from doodle. it has an ai in it just click the link in my signature, but the one with ai is the newer one and i havent updated my sig yet.
