Re: Scratch 2.0 Prototype: Biggest Concerns

1. You can do:
define {my new block}
my new block

Meaning you can make an infinite loop. This can be useful sometimes, but not always.
2. Just like in Scratch 1.4, you can click on a block to make it do something. Except for the delete this clone block. When I click it, nothing happens. Maybe this is because it doesn't know which clone I'm talking about?

Yes, the Prototype website only has projects through January of this year. But the official release of Scratch 2.0 (later this year) will include all projects made before the release.

Re: Scratch 2.0 Prototype: Biggest Concerns

The lack of a working paint editor is disappointing. What's the estimated release date?

This. I can understand that it can't make the projects, but it's really glitchy on iOS.  hmm

Try clicking the project. It should capture the keyboard.

Re: Scratch 2.0 Prototype: Biggest Concerns

Will we be able to play our projects in presentation mode in the editor?
Will all of my projects, sounds and sprites currently stored in my 1.4 application be transferrable to 2.0?

Meaning you can make an infinite loop. This can be useful sometimes, but not always.

This sort of infinite loop doesn't make Scratch lock up the way some programming languages would, although if you really want an infinite loop it's better to use a "forever" block. But it can actually be useful for a block to call itself, as in this project:

The "delete clone" block only works when it runs *in* a clone. You're right, if you just try that block in a sprite, it doesn't do anything. But you can put it in script under the "clone startup" block then it will delete the clone. For a simple example, see:

  http://alpha.scratch.mit.edu/projects/10000100

Hope that helps!

Re: Scratch 2.0 Prototype: Biggest Concerns

There's no "point towards x: () y: ()" block -- if I could have one new block, that'd be it. I honestly though that it'd be added in 2.0.

Re: Scratch 2.0 Prototype: Biggest Concerns

I just thought of something.
What if someone goes into the project and messes around with the cloud variables to set one to something inappropriate, and then runs it?

Re: Scratch 2.0 Prototype: Biggest Concerns

Also, I'm disappointed there's no "clean up" option in the scripts area. My scripts are really messy. D:

go here http://alpha.scratch.mit.edu/projects/10001233/?mode=editor

It'd be a lot more convenient if it was a proper block though, instead of a workaround.
