Will the forums stay the same in 2.0?

So, I saw this post by Lightnin. He seemed to imply that for 2.0, the forum system would switch to DjangoBB.
Is this true? A possibility? Why?

But it certainly seems like a good way to experiment and demo potential features for forums 2.0. ( And by the way, here's a link to the platform / code we'll be building on: http://djangobb.org/ )

If Lightnin said it, I'd guess it's true  tongue

I don't know why though (is there a reason not to?)

Most likely happening. It'll have better integration with the new Scratch site, which is done in Django (I believe).

OK, while talking to Lightnin i asked him about it, and he said it will.
I don't feel like having this closed right now though, in case anyone wants to discuss it.

Probably to implement better with the main site, which will also be redone in Django.

Why do you hope that it isn't changing?

It'd be too much of a drastic change for me (I don't adapt well to changes) and I think they're fine the way they currently are.
Oh, and I have a question: Will they transfer all of the data over?

The data thing is a really big issue. Lightning and I we're talking about this previously a while back and one of the big issues is transferring the data might be difficult (if not impossible), so it's very likely that the forums will start off fresh, with the FluxBB forums archived but still accessible. But it's still too early to tell since Scratch 2.0 is still in the works and much still needs to be done.

Looking at the Django website, though, it looks like it has an option to set up the forums with a classic PunBB setup - given that the current Scratch Forums is based on FluxBB (which, in turn, is based on PunBB), maybe the forums might not really change much in terms of aesthetics and feel.

Have you seen this, for migrating PunBB to DjangoBB?
