Re: Pokemon- Land Version and Pokemon- Sea Version Collab

I have an idea for a random legendary: Crystalic. It is Normal type.

It has a humanoid body, but it is sealed inside a crystal. It has a special ability, Shock-Absorb, that allows it to take damage only from the type it is in, which is also the color of its crystal. I forgot to mention there are 16 crystals, that you give to Crystalic, that changes it's type and crystal color.

It's signature move, Crystal Storm, changes type along with Crystalic.

It could also be like the opposite of another legendary, so they form a duo. That "good" legendary fought Crystalic in an epic battle and the other pokemon won, so it sealed Crystalic in its crystal.

It's my birthday. Deal with it.

Lol, why did you say they are big too?

'Big cats' is the non-scientific term for the cat family that is... big... like cheetahs and jaguars and lions and tigers and cheese (upon my sister's request).

Wow! here is my pokedex idea

Pokedex: Crystalic, the normal type pokemon. It has a humanoid body trapped inside its crystal. It is the opposite of legendary pokemon *insert name here*.

On the game, I was supossed to start programming the Scrolling Engine as well as the Battle engine. The scolling is almost done, the battle engine I need Fakemon spriters for, and I have no information weather you guys are done yet. I am not sure about the other progammers but thats were I am at.

Done with... a few sprites? A bunch of sprites? ALL of the sprites?

@ Everyone
Speaking of sprites, I think it's high time that we gathered what we have into one project. I'll do that, if no one else wants to. What I mean is, that we all post the sprites we made for the game, and then someone puts them into a Scratch project so that it's easier for the programmers to get the sprites for the game. Sound like a plan?

That would really help me, and hopefully the rest of the programmers. How long do you think it will take, I want to see how that battle engine works.

Oh yeah. It's not exactly what i had in mind.

I imagined a dragon that had a rounded head, was yellow, and lightning bolt wings, tail, and horn. Could you make a sprite like that.

Honestly, I think Zangooser would have better luck with that.  It sounds like more of a scratch sprite to me, sorry.  Did you want it to come out of a thundercloud, like The1Up said?

Actually, the one I made isn't on land, either. If you look at its feet, you'll see that neither of them or aligned nor "flat", like it was standing on a surface. Chinese dragons fly, you see, and I wanted to represent that in my sprite.

So, who's going to be rounding up the sprites? Max?

There is nothing wrong with your sprite. You are a splicer at heart, and you simply did not have the tools you needed to make what you wanted (in this case, you didn't have the right Pokemon. No existing Pokemon had the right body parts to combine and make a flawless dragon.)

So, guys - I asked you yesterday about the banner thing, and I've already started on it. As you can see, I've put the Land version legendary on the banner (the sprite I made yesterday, I think), but it's not finished, as we need to make the Sea version legendary. But here's the link to what I have so far:

Fixed some bug going on with the letters. If you noticed in the first version I posted (like, ten minutes ago XP), there was some random lightness going on with the tops of the letter D's. Here's the fixed version:

We are also Going to need a banner for the start a of the game (you know like the title and everything) and that could work. Are we going to be using animated sprites? And are we using maps that have already been in the game, or are we going to attempt to make our own?

Animated sprites - no way. This is only my opinion, but having animated sprites is going to make the project take roughly four times longer. We'll have to study the B/W sprites and then create a series of frames for each and every fakemon. To me, this doesn't seem very fair to the spriters. XP
As for the maps, I think we should use maps from previous games, both to save time and to make the game look more authentic.

Very True XD. Animated sprites will end up taking years to make and theres only like 11 of us. As for the map, maps are not to hard to create, and with making a scrolling engine, I find that I need an EXACT size for a map. It gets very difficult for me when we dont have maps or routes, then we have to use prevoius ones, and it doesnt look to good. Plus, were am I going to get all these routes and maps, there not too easy to find. Spriters resource has a few but there all fire red maps.

Well, I do know JJManrulez.  He's the best animator I know.  He made 2 B/W style animations of my fakemon for me.  It took around an hour for him.  However, like me, he's a older spriter.  Not to offend him, but I don't know if he's as active as he was in the old days.  He is an epic animator though.  If you guys are talking about the whole region map, even I could probably make a mash-up map with modern maps.
