Because of some recent abuses of the embedded image feature (the [img] tag), we have disabled it on our forums. We regret the inconvenience but feel that it's the best thing to do given the circumstances. If an image is necessary for a forum discussion, we suggest that you upload it in a Scratch project and link to the project from your forum post.
Why not have images await mod approval before display?

Way too much work for the (already overworked) moderators.

I think this descision is good for the community, however there are some disadvanages too. Here is what Ive collected from some posts before:
Pros:
Pages Load faster
No more spam
No more confusion between pic and sig ( some people will just think it is signature and pass it )
Cons:
Less colorful/beautiful ( besides the fact that sratch blocks and Signatures are still going
So in the final debate, I think that disableing the IMG tag is fair way of telling us not to spam in images, here or on scratch. However I believe that there may be some ways to rehandle it:
Make it so that only full scratchers could use the IMG tags
OR
Watch the current activeness of spam and see if the rates go up or down over the past month year ect. If they go up then wait abit longer, i they go down allow the IMG tags until some massive spam or other comes from it.
OR
Have the moderators veiw it first before it can be veiwed, but make sure the moderators are doing their job almost every day.
I think that these type of descisions in scratch are completely okay to debate about and if you do not like one of my ideas please feel free to tell me why you think it wont work, but just one please.
From UniteBefore this, only full Scratchers could use the IMG tag.
The last one is rather impossible, as the Scratch moderator team is few, and they're just volunteers. It could take forever to get all of them approved!
There's a bot on the Scratch site that does it every night.

Yep. People forget that our mods are volunteers, who prefer not to spend all their time approving images.

If they [the mods] spend all their time approving images, then people would troll all over the place (without images)

Can we ask for certain sites for some users to be allowed, or some directories of sites? I use dropbox to host most of my images which would be http://dl.dropbox.com/u/11485779/file-name-or-directory. 11485779 means it's my public folder, and only I manage it.
