Most major internet browsers support "tabs"--little thingies that appear in the tab bar. From here you can click to navigate to other websites, while the previous one is still available to you in another tab. So why can't this feature be in Scratch? Say I have to projects running at one time. I, personally, hate using multiple windows for one program because (a) it's inconvenient (I don't like switching between windows), (b) it clogs up space on my task bar, and (c) some other random reasons which I don't feel like mentioning. This feature would be quite useful. Can this aspect be put in 1.5?
EDIT:
The main purpose of this feature would be for copying and pasting between two projects, as Paddle2See suggested.
EDIT:
I don't mean opening tabs in your web browser. I mean the actual Scratch application. Sorry if that's ambiguous. I can see how you'd get mixed up.
EDIT:
Here's a GIMPed up screenshot (I'm not too good with it ), for your convenience:

SCRATCH uses an awful lot of memory space already, and even more when trying to run one project on my laptop. But if such an idea can be implemented without overloading the computer, I would love to see a feature like this if it is possible.

I already use Tabs in my browser (IE7) to run different projects. I have a shortcut on my desktop that brings up the Scratch homepage...if I fire it off twice I get two tabs, each running Scratch. Maybe it was a setting somewhere in IE?

I think he means offline.

What I mean is, tabs in the actual Scratch application, not online. You know, so I can work on two projects at the same time without having to switch windows.

Oh, and Cheddargirl, Scratch is about 50 megabytes. What's a few more?

Oh...I see. Yeah, that would be handy. Particularly if you could do cut and paste of scripts between the two tabs.

On my laptop, the SCRATCH folder takes up about 145MB (about 120MB from the original download, the rest from the our other projects I'm working on), and when running, it requires 16 MB more memory (this is not when running a big project). It sounds like nothing, but considering the state which my laptop is in, running SCRATCH slows down my computer fairly significantly.

Really? That's odd... I have a clean install of Scratch (I reinstalled Windows XP, so I would obviously have to reinstall Scratch), and when I look at the "Add or Remove Programs" thing, it said it was taking up 49.62 MB. I wonder...

But Memory and Space have almost nothing to do with each other. Memory is what stores the tempory stuff(icons, sounds) so it doesn't take as long to load. Space is how much space is on the hard drive.

True, memory and hard drive space have nothing to do with each other, but both can still affect how fast a computer, or, in this case, my laptop, runs. Laptops tend to run slower and require more time to boot up when more space on the hard drive is occupied (even more slowly if there's a ton of defragmented files). Add the multiple processes that run in the background plus the SCRATCH application and the more slower the computer runs.
If we can have the tabs option instead of having multiple SCRATCH applications run multiple times, I'm all for it.

Nah, I think it should stay dead.

Stay dead? I never give up!
Anyone? Anyone else want to post their opinions? Please? With sugar on top?
Maybe we can put it in 1.5, as it sadly wasn't implemented in 1.4.
Let's work to keep this thread alive! Please! Post!

Nah, I don't think so. It uses WAY too much RAM at this point, I can only imagine what would happen to people's computers if there were multiple tabs open at once! My "minesweeper" project uses ~150,000 K of memory, which is over twice as much as Firefox is using, and it's the most memory-using application I have open - And that's a small project! Frankly, I think it would just slow things down too much.

You can see the projects on a new tab, just right click and select Open In new Tab.

Frih, what I mean is in the actual APPLICATION (scratch.exe, scratch.app, whatever you call it) have tabs. Like, so you can MAKE two projects at the same time. I know, it's kind of unclear. I can see how you'd mess that up.
