why do you do (193- 12)-(193-7) = 5 ?
this would be (a²+b² - a) - (a² + b² - b)
I thought you would calculate it with this phythagoras thing a²+b²=c²? but maybe I understood it wrong, english math is new for me  big_smile

EDIT: oh, I just saw what scimonsters wrote...

Idk. It's just what I learned in my 6th grade year.

I'm in 8th grade, and learned the Pythagorean theorem straight from Khan Academy.

Well, i'm in the advanced class now, i also know trig.

Re: mathematical equations

That looks cool! I know a bit of trig, but all that knowledge goes to SIN, COS, ASIN, ACOS, and maybe soon TAN.

Hey, can you figure this equation out? It's a bit complex, through. The answer is not a real number.

Question: What is x?
Equation: squared (x) = -1

^ i, obviously...
Although -i could also be correct...

Interesting.
I learn trig from Khan Academy.
We're not allowed to do so in school.  sad

I also learned everything I know about trig from Khan academy. I convinced my teacher to teach sine cosine and tangent in class.
Back on topic with the mathematical equations

Code:

78x+56/y-yx=558+2/9

what is x?
what is y?

Re: mathematical equations

My friend made an equation, it offended me.

Men = Money * Money
Time = Money, so men = Money^2

Money is the root of all evil, so Money = √evil

Which means that Money^2 = (√evil)^2 = evil

So that:

Men = evil

as i said, i was offended.

Hmm, nice one.
Assuming x is positive, 2.5 log(x) = 3.26713.
Although the real solution figures to x ≈ 3.69453.
This one was a bit tricky.

Re: mathematical equations

Graph the equation  y-4.269=56.3(x-1.267)
in you're browser using the | and _ symbols for the axis as well as the * symbol for the data points.

Must be precise.

Ok, Here is a fun one:

pick any number and multiply by two. add 5. multiply by 50. if you have had your birth day, add 1762, else add 1761. subtract the total by your 4-digit birth year, and the first number is what you chose, and the last digit(s) are your age!

That's scary. it worked!

Simple.
900 + x^2 = 3600
3600 - 900 = 2700
√2700 = 6√75
and 6√75 is approximately 51.961525

Re: mathematical equations

peomon1: 1+4+9+16+25+36+49=140

TobyFork: y = 22272/x^x
               x = log(base x) of (22272/y)
               x = log(22272/y)/log(x)
               x*log(x) = log(22272/y)
               this isn't going anywhere...

peonom1 (earlier): Why this works:

pick any number: x
multiply by 2: 2x
add 5: 2x + 5
multiply by 50: 100x + 250
add 1762/1761: 100x + 2011 OR 100x +2012
subtract birth year (any year say...1971): 100x + your age (2012-1971 = 41 in this case)

provided you're younger than 100, this will work  smile . If not...well...it might mess up a bit  smile .   The key is the 100x because what that really does is add on 2 zeros so that you can put any two digit number, like an age, in those digits.

Actually, you can simplify that even further because 75 is divisible by 25, so it should actually be 30√3 which does indeed =51.961525  smile

This one was a bit tricky.

The whole process is actually:
5 = ln((2X)^2.5)   use law of log powers
5 = 2.5*ln(2X)
2 = ln(2X)
2X = e^2
X = (e^2)/2
X = 3.694528...

This way is a lot easier to read and keeps it theoretical until you've solved completely for x making calculations more accurate  smile  although it really only makes a difference around the quadrillionth's place  smile .
