what is a scratch applet? - how do you even make an applet out of a scratch project?

Hi jamie. Currently it is not possible to do that. In what cases would you prefer to have an EXE instead of the applet?

It would just be nice to have the option to "Make an EXE" in the next version of scratch, so when the EXE is opened, it is your Scratch project inside of a window.

Making a scratch program executable is very dependent on the operating system.
The java applet approach currently used for the web pages is a good, but not great, compromise between ease of use and operating system independence (Java is not quite as machine-independent as its proponents claim).

Chirp.scratchr.org has Scratch2Exe(Windows). and http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic.php?id=12930(Mac).

This topic is almost 2 years old. I don't think Scratch2Exe existed then.
