...of handling an LGBT topic. I do understand that some people are unaccepting, but honestly, a few people should not be enough of a reason to make LGBT topics out of the question. The Scratch community is full of LGBT people, and there should be a topic where we can talk about it. It's not spam or anything. Sometimes we need a place to talk about it-- the topic is sort of like an...outlet of sorts for us.
Who's with me? I think the community can handle it. The youngest people we have on the forums are 8, right? Even if their parents don't accept LGBT people, it won't be a problem if they see a topic. And isn't it their choice if the agree or not?
Don't tl;dr! Read it all, or most of it at LEAST.

Complete agreement! Coolstuff tried to explain why they took it down to me, but I still think we're perfectly capable of keeping and LGBT thread under control.

Yes but do we need one?
No.

I agree.
It's such a shame it was closed
Especially as for some people (me included), it's the only place to talk about that kind of stuff.

But to make sure that such topics are dealt with in a sensitive and constructive way, it takes a lot of time and energy to moderate the discussion appropriately. Unfortunately, we don’t feel we’re able to do that in the Scratch Forums.
It wasn't whether or not we could handle it, it was that keeping it peaceful was a hassle for the Scratch Team that was time better spent elsewhere, similarly to how religion topics are not allowed.

But we ourselves are capable of helping the mods keep it under control.

The worst part isn't the trolls. The worst part isn't that the mods themselves are against it. The worst part is that it's the only place in the world where I can talk about.
My family? Uncomfortable and don't want to talk.
My friends? Abandoned me when I came out.
Help groups? None near me.
Other forums? Don't know me well enough to understand.
My school? Everyone including teachers avoid me like the plague.
Sometimes I just feel like I should crawl down to the deepest reached of the Earth and stay there. No one would miss me.

Yes, but it's only because of the selection of immature users that they couldn't moderate it enough.
If those users didn't post, then it would need less moderation.

Why not?
Like I said, it's like an outlet for us.
LGBT people experience a lot of problems because of them being LGBT, unlike a lot of straight people. Some, like me, are even DEPRESSED about it.
@EBJ I'd miss you...

I'd miss you! A lot! You're such a nice person...
Mods! Don't you see what you're doing to people?!?!

I think we should have a topic about this. I mean, like, what's wrong with the concept? I know some people aren't a fan of it, but they can just not post, right?
All of what I just wrote is what I THINK you're talking about, but I'm not exactly sure.
NEVERMIND! I got what you're talking about. Yeah, I need a little...assistance with that kind of stuff. Because I don't know really WHAT I am! And surely a lot of other people on here feel the same way as I do: unsure. So you should make a topic about it, and tell everyone to be proud of who you are.
@EBJ: Don't say that....I'd miss you.

Yeah, I get depressed about it too.
And if Scratch didn't exist, I'd probably go my whole without coming out to anyone.
I just don't see why the mods can't trust us to be sensible.

And wait for those to get accepted by the ST? If they don't accept the topics, why would they accept a forum about being LGBT?

@JJ
It's people like you, like ALL of you naysayers, that make me cry myself to sleep some nights.

It's not so much the topic discussion that made them close it, it's the amount of moderation it needed.
They'd probably accept the forum, because they themselves wouldn't need to moderate it.

You don't have to have them approve it if you don't tell anyone about it on scratch.

But they wouldn't let us link to it or even mention it. Also, who's to say we won't be trolled there too? But now with no stakes. They can troll all they want, no repercussions at all, it'd just keep happening, every day, every single day.

So what? Make your own forums. If Scratch does not allow it, don't try to fight it. Just make your own forums. Easy as that, no trouble and no harm.

Some parents may not wish their son/daughter to join another forums, as they may not feel they are suitable for children, such as harsh language, or just don't want them to join another forums.

Read my above post.

You could tell them by email, or Skype.
Just keep it all off Scratch.
