You don't have to get the overpriced modem-router combo to get Wifi. You can get a cheap $30-50 Wifi-equipped router from Wal-Mart. Just plugin the router to power, and plug it up to the CAT-5 output (the phone jack-looking plug) of the DSL modem. You now have Wifi, for at most, half what the DSL company charges.

I wish it we're that simple. 

We actually have a security system which requires us to use a special kind of IP address, and since the internet service doesn't give us two special ones, we havge to pay to get an extra one to connect to a Wifi router.

Error codes are such an issue hope they add a DS with 4G.

No, not DS Lite. DSL, as in cable internet. 

@steve That is the external IP. A router doesn't mess with that at all. As far as the modem can see, a router is just a computer.

Yikes! No wifi? I feel bad for you considering the fact that I'm posting from my iPad right now with a fast wireless connection.

What makes it worse is that I have my own iPad and MAcbook pro, just no internet to use them!
