DSL to Wifi

Well, It's official, I'm the last person on planet earth that still has DSL intenet. My entire family has to share the one, slow computer that has access to the internet. We don't have wifi and we never have.

My parents haven't bought Wifi because of a $100 set-up fee that our internet company charges for installing Wifi. However, I finally convinced them to get it but we we're too late, our internet service isn't open again until Monday!

Grrrr.....2 more days!

Re: DSL to Wifi

Even if you have Wifi, it is still DSL.  tongue  Also, I have one worse than DSL: satellite internet.

You don't have to get the overpriced modem-router combo to get Wifi. You can get a cheap $30-50 Wifi-equipped router from Wal-Mart. Just plugin the router to power, and plug it up to the CAT-5 output (the phone jack-looking plug) of the DSL modem. You now have Wifi, for at most, half what the DSL company charges.  smile

Re: DSL to Wifi

Do you mean DSLite™? I own actually although, internet is a pain when it comes to games. If you need help anyway read this:

1.Go to Wi-fi Connection if one of your games have Wi-fi symbol.

2. go to Connection Setup.

3. Choose either USB Connector for your PC to your DS or click the top for DS router to show any Wi-fi locals available.

4. Click Connection 1, 2, 3 on your DS.

5. If you have a name and password for your own internet you can click Manual setup.

6. Search access point for any signals.

7. There is 3 different locks when trying to connect to the list you see, BLUE(Open Lock Free Wi-fi), RED(Lock Security Coded System SCS), and GREY( Connection unavailable).

8. Signals, No bars no signal 0 connection, poor 1 bar 30% connection or 20, 2 bars great 60 or 50%, and All bars 90-100%.

9.
If Connection status says Succesful you may now have access to the Wi-fi internet on your DS. Sorry, I said too much. If you have a computer or laptop, buy a Wi-fi USB Connector and get the internet from there if you tried the wireless router and failed.

Error codes are such an issue hope they add a DS with 4G.  smile

I wish it we're that simple.  tongue

We actually have a security system which requires us to use a special kind of IP address, and since the internet service doesn't give us two special ones, we havge to pay to get an extra one to connect to a Wifi router.

sad

<insert double facepalm here>

No, not DS Lite. DSL, as in cable internet.  tongue

@steve That is the external IP. A router doesn't mess with that at all. As far as the modem can see, a router is just a computer.

Yikes! No wifi? I feel bad for you considering the fact that I'm posting from my iPad right now with a fast wireless connection.

I've completely moved to my new acount (SilverDomination), which is finally a Scratcher! Goodbye, & yet Hello!

What makes it worse is that I have my own iPad and MAcbook pro, just no internet to use them!
