Espevoir, beta testing is already over, as it is now out to the public
I would, however, be more than happy to have you install FireMMO via the instructions in the first post. If you need any assistance whatsoever in the installation process, feel free (and please do, it will help the forum get bumped properly) to ask me what to do. You may need to post an error message, though.

I guess you could, Pecola. I'm currently working on a handler which sends a packet to another player, so if you write a sound/picture format, and you know how to interpret it, you could send just about whatever you want. But what I really need is some more programmers to help get it done quicker. It is written in C, so you would need to know C and Scratch for that matter. Sorry pythoners.
I am AWESOME at C.
I've been using C [size=5]on Arduino[/size] and I am AWESOME with it.

Great. Read the post above, our simply the topic post, and please, help with this project.

As FireMMO is a rapidly growing community-drived technology, there has been a new release which combined with the new client released earlier, you should be able to completely leverage the epic power of FireMMO. A download is available on the website, and it can be compiled the same way as the old FireMMO, except using this codebase instead of the original codebase.

So, cocolover76 please, try out some of the code on the website. Do you want me to put you on the staff list? (that I'll create if you say yes
)
Sorry about the delay,

MySQL.
Are you kidding? I know MySQL like it's English!
I even have my own server that is running on the computer I am typing on.
(My dad configured the router so no one can connect to my server except people in my network)
Trust me, if I am working with MySQL, I know what I am doin'.

I didn't know you were online, and yes, put me on the staff list (and create it, of course).

Done. By the way, cocolover (is it okay to just call you that?), I would like to mention that MySQL isn't supported officially, although with some work I could make it a lot easier. I would like to try to make the new, more sophisticated yet powerful version of FireMMO, FireMMO version 2 (lol) have a lot more documentation. Though I have partial bits of documentation on my computer, (and I mean partial) there is the source code available which is the only usable documentation other than what would be found through reverse-engineering.
Maybe I should bring the English down a little?

Call me Coco.
Also, MySQL isn't supported officially with what? If you need something that's fully supported, I could probably learn PostgreSQL. But not SQL. SQL you have to pay for.

I mean that FIreMMO is really hard to set-up with MySQL, so I discontinued that version. I mean the source code is till up on the site, but I don't really want to bother to do much customer support stuff. Basically, unless we do a lot of work, you're MySQL knowledge won't be of great help to FireMMO. As I mentioned before, I would prefer to do more work with FireMMO 2.0, as it is a much more organized and it had a much more specific goal. By that, I mean, I didn't know that FireMMO would become so popular when I wrote the first couple lines of code for it and I didn't even have a name for it.
Either way, when you are browsing the FireMMO source code, if you need any help utilizing the undocumented features tell me, as I don't have any real documentation available.

Actually, I signed up assuming I would get Flash soon, I don't have Flash yet, although I do have Adobe Flex, but I deleted it because at the time it seemed useless. I'll find a way.

You do know, Coco, Flash/Flex wasn't exactly mandatory, it was just because I didn't have alternative. I may be able to write one in C, which should act identical to the Flash/Flex client if I set it up correctly. I still do have a little bit of parsing work that needs to get done in order for the new client to be fully backwards-compatible. Since most of it is pretty close to being ready, I seriously doubt that it should take more than a day. By the way, what timezone/place do you live in, considering that to me it seems like you are on at weird times of the day? (for me, obviously)

I can port it to Python, I have made Python programs that connected to Scratch before.
Also, I am in US/Canada Eastern time zone.

Great, I would really appreciate it if you could write a python port. Remember that the server that I am using, for backwards-compatibillity reasons, by the way, does not and will not directly support the Scratch protocol, so the Python/Flash/Flex program must be able to parse scratch data and extract it into a format that is raw data.
By the way, it would really help development if you add the FireMMO logo/link to your signature, as you are very active in these boards. If you need the BBCode ask me.

Coco, have you achieved much progress on porting this? It is a very important task that must be done for FireMMO, and will help achieve much more progress along the rest of the path of FireMMO. As far as actually making MMO's go, I'm sure we could get a license/permission to use an MMO created with Mesh and just try to port that.
Also, I would kind of prefer that you use an image. (unless you don't have any space in you sig). The image is located here.

I need to note that development on this will be almost completely halted until a python client is written. Magnie, if you're reading this, can you help me modify the mirror you wrote some time ago. The quicker this gets done the quicker that a real MMORPG can be made.
Thanks for everything,

Sorry, I sorta forgot about this.
Anyway, with my new signature, I think I can fit an image in.

Thanks a ton Coco. I'll contact Magnie regarding the client if you don't think you can get a client in python to work. As I mentioned too many times, the client is one of the most mandatory pieces of FireMMO's development. (I also reset the client's project status on the main page)
Thanks for all of your contributions,

My computer seems to be really picky with Python, even with Scratch running with RSC enabled, it still gets a ton of errors, EVEN WITH ONE OF THE DEMO ONES ON THE WIKI!!!
from: can't read /var/mail/array
./firemmo.py: line 8: HOST: command not found
./firemmo.py: line 9: PORT: command not found
./firemmo.py: line 11: syntax error near unexpected token `('
./firemmo.py: line 11: `def sendScratchCommand(cmd):'

I think I read somewhere on the forums (again, likely Magnie's post) that you are running a version of python that is too old/new. I'm getting error on the wiki one, too. Try here (Magnie's mirror, of course)

A few months ago, I was using a Python RSC test that was an edited version of a wiki one, and I haven't updated ANYTHING (except my browser) since then.
Wait a minute.....
Maybe Pygame messed it up.

It's unlikely that pygame was the culprit. Have you been able to get Magnie's mirror to run. If yes, I could contact Magnie.
