If you are reading this, please read to the end, because if you don't you won't know what's at the end. Don't just skip to the end though otherwise you won't be able to read the middle, which is most important. Now you must be wondering why you just read all that, the reason is you may have not noticed something, read it again and see if you notice it this time  smile

Well scratch shouldn't block anything on me. The cr word isnt bad really. Just young children and their beliefs. I WILL QUIT IF ANYTHING IS BLOCKED ON ME. NOT KIDDING.

Re: Scratch for teens

Scratch isn't about that. Scratch is for children. And LOTS of children lie about their age. If I was seven, and I had my own Email, then I would say I was thirteen so I could use my own Email, instead of my parent's.

LOL

But guys, it would not allow you to put bad words, only block slightly more bad words for children, and if the child lies, there's nothing for the ST to do, if the child wants to see bad words so be it!

No, I do not agree. Scratch should be for everyone and a certain people should not be zoned out.

I'm -10. This means I couldn't view half the projects on scratch.  hmm

Me too. I would file a complaint to the ST and they would unblock everything of course. Because if they dont I know what I will do >:D

Re: Scratch for teens

I agree and disagree.
-Let's say there are three users; user 1 is over 10.  User 2 is over 12.  User 3 is over 14.
-User 3 tells users 1 and 2 to view one of their projects.
-User 3 has rated the project "10+ only for mild blood."
-Users 1 and 2 are given the choice to view this project.  It is their choice, provided user 3 is not lying.
-If user 3 is lying, he can be reported and warned.
-User 3 then releases another project, "12+ only for violence and mild language."
-User 1, who is under 12, cannot view at all.
-User 2, who is over 12, can choose to view if they wish.
-Once someone is over 15, they no longer have to choose.  Everything becomes automatically available.

I agree to this. As owetre18 said before, there should be some sort of parent password system.

Re: Scratch for teens

What I suggest is that there should be two different scratch sites, one for teens and one for children. I understand that some teens like making games for young children, but I think it is not fair that teens cannot post anything that they want to post and that there is no other program that has the freedom that scratch has to offer. All I am trying to say is why not scratch would still get the benefit of people still using there sites. So I think that scratch should have two sites.  big_smile

Re: Scratch for teens

I support, they did this on Wurm online, as it was rated 18+ due to the community swearing. They forced the censor on accounts with the owner's age under 14, and if they lied then they couldn't really complain about the swearing as:

1. They lied, it's their fault.
2. There's a censor which you can turn on and off anyway (unless you're under 14 ofcourse, then it'd be locked on on).

This wouldn't split the community, this'd enrich it, if the project owner wanted a younger audience to view it they'd at least make another project which is censored. If Scratch had a censor which was locked at on when the owner is under 14 it'd indeed enrich it, if on a Minecraft server topic someone said "Banned XXXX for saying the c word" people can then get a lot of bad words from that. And if they lie about their age then complain about swearing then that's their own fault.
