What OS do you use and with what theme?

I used to use Windows, but now I use Ubuntu (11.10).  I use GNOME, not Unity because it just looks better in my opinion.  EDIT: When I use Windows 8 Developer Preview, I have Windows Aero on as the theme, but with Windows XP sounds.

P.S.  When I installed Ubuntu, I booted into windows for a reason I can't remember, and I realized it was rubbishly slow, especially booting up. probably 'cuz I have my desktop filled with gadgets...

P.S.S.  Those who say Apple is cheap because they charge for a point-blank upgrade, don't think Microsoft doesn't do that.  Compare Windows Vista version # with Windows 7's and Windows 8 Dev Preview's.  Same with Windows XP and Windows 2000.

Fun fact: Windows ME (4.9) is the last version of Windows to use the DOS kernel.  Windows 2000 (NT 5.0) forward uses the NT kernel.

Vista Basic with Vista Standard theme, changed colour to light green. Vista basic is the only version of Vista which works out of the box.

That's not an OS, unless you actually use ChromeOS?

Some people like web browser OS. Some computers even come with a quick boot OS which only has a web browser.

Yeah I know, but I was just skeptical that he had ChromeOS because he makes Scratch projects and plays Minecraft.

On my netbook: Linux Mint with a theme I made.
On my desktop computer: Windows Vista, because my mom wouldn't know what to do with it if it was linux.

littletonkslover wrote:

it's like the visual style of the desktop. For example:

In Windows XP, the default theme is Luna (aka Default Blue)

In Windows Vista and 7, it is usually Aero (if the window borders have transparency effects) or Basic (if the borders are an ugly shade of blue and no transparency effects whatsoever)

In Ubuntu 11.x, it is usually Unity with Ambiance.

In Mac OS X, if i'm not mistaken it's called Aqua.

honestly, I've no idea why people give Vista such a bad rap.  It was in fact my favorite version of Windows yet!  It looked elegant, and it wasn't too slow.  The only problem was it booted waaaaaay too slow.  I liked XP at first, but it looked plain ugly to me.  And the last version of Windows I used before that was Windows 98.  Oh, memories...  smile

Windows 2000 SP4 currently with a Windows 9x theme.
Windows XP SP3 with a Mac OS X Tiger/Leopard/Snow Leopard/Lion theme, a Vista theme (wound up corrupting shell32.dll with this theme but restored it from a backup), the default theme and a WindozeNT Software Operating System theme. Currently on OSX theme. Occasionally, I use the Shelled Basix 1.0 DP1 shell using the default Basix theme.

Simulated WSOS 1.0 with default Basix Desktop theme.

Emulated Mac OS 9 with default theme.

Emulated MS-DOS "Me Edition" (WinMe boot disk) with default DOS Shell theme.  tongue

How'd you install Classic Mac OS? I've been trying but can't find the ROM or much else...

Could you help?

Yeah. Vista isn't bad and the problems it does have are mostly fixed. The main problem is that it uses quite a bit of RAM compaired to the others (600 - 800Mb on idle). I wouldn't want Vista on a Laptop but on a desktop it's fine and works well.
