Scratch Blur Tool

How cool would Scratch paint editor be with the blur tool? What is an art editor without it? So I thought I'd suggest it to the Scratch Team.

A blur tool would be really handy for all those expert artists and animators who may want a really good shading or other useful tool. Most of these people will then have to go to another program like gimp or photoshop to explore their artistic side more. I'd like to see Scratch a little more advanced in the paint editor. So many other programs have much better and I thought for keeping all these great artists on Scratch a blur tool could help.

Now nescesarilly it won't have a large impact on Scratch, but this is only one of the ways I can think of improving the paint editor. Many more features could be added. (Like changing different fonts on the same sprite) The blur tool would help a lot of artists stay on Scratch for example: Jasmidge and -SkyStar- are really great artists and I think a blur tool could really help them. (Of course I haven't gotten their opinions on it)

This is my impression of what a blur tool would look like in Scratch Paint Editor:

Even though Scratch isn't all about the art, I hope you can take this into consideration. ~anuw  wink

Was gonna say just this; if you really want your graphics to be good, I'd suggest creating them in a more advanced program (GIMP for example), and then importing it.

Programming involves art. You everyone likes a good game, but not if it has terrible graphics.  tongue

I Support.

If you are reading this, please read to the end, because if you don't you won't know what's at the end. Don't just skip to the end though otherwise you won't be able to read the middle, which is most important. Now you must be wondering why you just read all that, the reason is you may have not noticed something, read it again and see if you notice it this time  smile

Re: Scratch Blur Tool

People on Scratch don't usually use the Scratch Paint Editor if the whole focus of their project is art. They usually use another program, like Gimp or Paint, for that. The Scratch Paint Editor is usually just for simple drawings, not for elaborate drawings. With that in mind, I don't think it is really necessary to have a blur tool in the Paint Editor.

Re: Scratch Blur Tool

The main problem witha blur tool would be that it required translucent pixes, which cannot be done in Scratch. Hopefully you will be able to make semi-visible pixels in a future version of Scratch. Then the blur tool, and EPIC gradients would be possible.

Re: Scratch Blur Tool

A blur effect block would also be good.

32-bit graphics would be epic  cool

First quote: See, Scratch may be for programming (Which I said in the thread) but like what henly said, if you want good games, you need good graphics. ~Thanks, anuw.  wink
