Why Can’t People Share Copies Of Scratch 2.0 From Scratch Day?

I heard that on Scratch Day, people who went to it got some sort of pre-pre-pre-alpha version of Scratch 2.0. I looked around on the forums, and I figured out that the Scratch Team doesn’t want people sharing it. Why not? I can’t think of a good reason myself.

Because it's not true?  tongue

There was a preview of Scratch 2.0, but the Scratch Team never gave out the Scratch 2.0 program to anyone. The discussion page in the wiki suggest that, a while back, someone posted info saying that a pre-release of it was given for beta-testing purposes; this was very erroneous (and was probably where the rumor started from).

I actually was the one who posted that thread.  It originally had the actual link, but I changed it shortly after to rickroll links.

I have a correct link, but the scratch team has asked me not to post it.  I'll make it public just as soon as scratch 2.0 comes out.  tongue

Speaking of that, its probably going to come out after scratch day, because they said we would probably get another beta test.

Re: Why Can’t People Share Copies Of Scratch 2.0 From Scratch Day?

Ok, to clear up what happened, is there was a pre-alpha test at scratch-day 2011 (modding area). We were told not to give it out, because they thought it would look too "Un-professional", so I'm not at a liability to share it, however, I can indeed say that there was a pre-alpha.
