AuthMe. Plugins that popular servers have. 3 modes Survival,Creative, PvP. No whitelist.
OPs only have the special permit to ban and kick. No monsters in the day (as in creepers and spiders) 24/7 up-time.

And if someone's been whitelisted but hasn't joined yet, someone else can come on and register a password, so the real person won't be able to get on. And if there isn't a whitelist, it's even worse. And "great" is relative. There's the popular servers here, and then there's the huge servers sponsored by the server listing sites. It also depends on what sort of theme you want for a server.
