Change Stage/Background size?

Is it possible to change the stage/background size? That way if i wanted to make something say 200x100 pixels big, I could do so?

Re: Change Stage/Background size?

nope, not possible. You could change the size of everything else, and make the background's costume smaller but thats about it

Really? *, I've got to admit, that's very disappointing, I was really hoping it could. Oh well, I should still be able to find a use for it. Thank you.

Edit: Actually, when you say change the background's costume, do you mean like make a new background and only say, make a 100x100 square, and when I put the file online on my website, will the screen be 100x100? Or no? Else I'm not sure what you mean by making everything else bigger and the BG smaller.

no, just saying that you can make the costume smaller and all the sprites smaller and stick them all on a small part of the stage. The project will always be the same resolution

Dear Scratch Users,
I'm done with scratch, or at least making projects. I have made one last big game, thats both fun and teaches a lesson about water. It'd mean a lot if you gave me feedback.                              http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/bosox397/569201

Re: Change Stage/Background size?

Well if you were trying to make a buddy icon into an animation by using Scratch, and you wanted it to be the right size to fit the box, then you'd do what yambanshee said, which is put everything on a small part of the Stage. Also make the background smaller. Underneath the list of backgrounds it will tell you what size the background is.
Hope that helps!  smile

Re: Change Stage/Background size?

or you could make the thing you wanted to be a background be a sprite, then you could change the size but just have this script on the sprite:

<go back( 999999999999999999999999999 )layers>

If I make a background about 200x200 pixels big and only have everything in that area, when I place the animation/game online to be viewed as java, will it still be the default size or will it only take up 200x200 pixels on my website?

Re: Change Stage/Background size?

you could, make a black or white background, then paste a picture into it that is smller than the background itself...thats about the best you can do, unless you get a picture that is bigger.

unless you change the properties of the player using html it will always be the defult size. I recommend getting the HTML code to add a project (its located somewhere on these forums) try understanding a bit of it and trying to identify where it is that the screen resolution is.

Re: Change Stage/Background size?

true...but that won't change its size on this size nor when you download it. It also won't get rid of the white borders, it will just scale the whole thing.

Re: Change Stage/Background size?

Small stage size and that fact that it cannot be changed is really hurting this program. I've been showing it to my kids about a year ago, and was really hoping this is something the authors will change.
