I'm probably the only one in the world who quit the series on Brisingr. By the way, the Inheritance Cycle steals just about EVERY name from Tolkien. Valinor and his successor (forgot the name) were places in Middle-earth. I forget the others.

Paolini said himself that LotR was one of his favorite series, you know. So it's not stealing, it's more...official fanboyism? No one yells at WoW for stealing pretty much EVERYTHING from LotR.

The movie. was. HORRIBLE.

I read all 3 books and then watched the movie. I was not pleased.

Just a few of my problems with the movie
Angela. No, she is not thatstrange.

Ayra is not an elf (or she is and she lacks pointy ears). She's BLONDE? No elves are blond/redhead/whatever that was. You're not supposed to know about the princess thing yet.

Saphira's spontanious "growing up." Yeah no.

Too early for Brom's past to be revealed.

Raz'aac die before their time. That was like 100 pages of Brisingr!

Where is Orin?

You may enjoy this fanfiction.

It could have been such an epic movie series

They squeezed a bunch of stuff in that shouldn't be in there. The battle was horrible.
Same quarrels with the percy jackson movie.

Yeah, it's sort of a tribute. I know that when I'm stuck for names in my writing I make them connect to something else. And I'm sure if the LotR folks had a problem with it, they would have said so smile

I have never read any of the books, other then like 10 pages of Eragon, I fell asleep cuz it was like 1am and then when I woke up I never fond the book again sad

All the books I have in my house is something about Greek and Roman myths and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince since for me it's the best of the HP books. I should buy these soon.

Maybe big_smile I haven't gotten that far yet.... I'm a little more than halfway through! There's some evidence pointing towards SPOILER ALERT FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE NOT GOTTEN MORE THAN HALFWAY THROUGH Nasuada because she's been captured by Galbatorix. I mean she's RIGHT THERE! Who knows? Also, there's been a boat load of green imagery (thank you AP English -_-) surrounding Ayra. More so than usual.

I have finished! 800+ pages... WOW. Amazing conclusion!

Ok, can I say... YES YES YES AYRA IS THE RIDER!!! But Christopher Paolini.... why didn't you keep Eragon and Ayra together? sad I do understand the reasons (aka Ayra being the Queen of the Elves and Eragon going to wherever but he's never to return...)But yay for Firnen and Saphira! I hope they'll be able to see each other ^^ It amuses me too much that their names are pronounced "FEAR-nin" and "sa-FEAR-ah" (approximatly. I'm too lazy to get my book, but I know for sure about Firnen).

OH. There was a Phantom of the Opera reference. Murtaugh's half mask. OH YEAH! That made me very, very happy! big_smile

I also ship Murtaugh/Nasuada now. The end.

In his letter at the end of the book, Christopher Paolnini said he was not going to abandon Alagaesia... but he doesn't know when he's going to write about it again. All I can say is.... PREQUAL PLEASE. Or a sequal with the various races becoming Riders.

I'm SO HAPPY that the Dwarves and Urgals can be Riders now! If he were to make a sequal, I think the new Riders could be:
Ismira
Hope
any kid Orik and his wife may have (I forget her name...)
Nasuada

There may be more, but I can't think of any right now.

Also, SO SWEET that Ayra and Eragon told each other their true names. I just wish that we could know them as well tongue
