Re: Phoenix Survival [MC Server] [1.0.0!]

Next week, when minecraft is officially released, I know we will get a new map. I have a few questions. I presume that we will go vanilla, with only the original people there until bukkit? Also, we would be having a spawn city again? I think we should have more rules if we do, like if you abandon a building, destroy it, stuff like that. And we might also need to define housing rules, such as no building large underground expanses to your home, only from 0y to 120y in your defined area. And maximum housing area is 20x20, so nothing gets crowded.

Sounds good, but I think there should be the ability to buy more room if needed.

I'll make a possible list of new city rules.

Re: Phoenix Survival [MC Server] [1.0.0!]

City rules, by the people for the people!

Housing
The town will be divided into 20*20 plots
The town center shall be a park, just like the current one is. There will be major roads going in every direction from it.
Dividing the plots should have normal roads, or alleys.
The first plot is free, but all successive plots will cost an additional fee
Owning a plot gives you rights to build anywhere inside that plot, from bedrock to sky limit

Roads
Roads will be named and marked, and houses will have adresses corresponding to the names

Property Sales
All property can be sold or transferred at any price set by the owner.
Properties can also be rented, once again at any price set by the owner.
If a crime (robbery or griefing) occurs on rented property, it is THE OWNER's responsibility to repair damages

Feel free to improve!

Inside the city only I assume.
Now... As far as the full update goes. Qaz, get on Skype. I'll leave it on... See, if we use this to our advantage we will be so full of players we will have to kick to get on.

Re: Phoenix Survival [MC Server] [1.0.0!]

I think the city walls aren't such a good idea (for the new map), cuz' they're pretty and stuff but they're a pain in the butt to extend, and clearing mountains to make them? Forget it. Plus, they're hard to make in general. Just use something else to mark the city.

I probably will quit by the time minecraft comes out and you reset the world.

I'm going for a server with older people on I guess.

Re: Phoenix Survival [MC Server] [1.0.0!]

Umm, I don't think a new map for 1.0 is a good idea. A lot of people have already spent time working on this map, and if it's not necessary, please no new map.

I'm 50/50 for a reset, I've built lots, but then again so has everyone else.

Maybe everyone will stop being a mort and plan it all out?

Ok, endermen are ruining the town and the server is fast but glitchy.

Re: Phoenix Survival [MC Server] [1.0.0!]

Ok, it seems I can host a pretty fast MC server (via Hamachi, but I'm getting Windows 7 ultimate soon and I can host off that).

I could use it for PS creative OR PS paintmod if you want.

God no. We don't need to plan it that much at all. I'm against the even 20x20 plots and everything neat, I think it looks better if we have people build houses of different sizes here and there then connect them with roads.

But I don't want a new world anyway.

I don't want it all 20x20 etc, but more planned.

Maybe each town could have a certain house style so you don't get a variety which looks amazingly bad.

Okay I see. I thought you were wanting like the BB but with smaller lots. Waaaaaay to organised.

We can't make the houses all the same, but should it be like, in Town A they have to be stone brick and in Town B they'd have to be planks or something?

Like spawn town could be industrial London, and the other town could be '90s san andreas suburbs, while another town could be countryside style.

Re: Phoenix Survival [MC Server] [1.0.0!]

A server restart is a great thing,  right now we're really crowded and it doesn't give a good impression.

Some thoughts on towns:

Qaz is king of the kingdom (the whole map), to start a town you need to give qaz 5 diamonds then choose a place for your town. Tax of 1 diamond per week to encourage people to join towns instead of everyone having their own.

It's up to the mayor of the town what buildings are allowed or not, and if citizens should pay taxes or not.

The mayor is allowed to take down or change buildings as they see fit, this is so the town is held up to its style instead of everyone building strange buildings.

It's up to the mayor whether citizens must seek planning permission before changing their house or not.

Alright, we seem to have a lot of dissenting opinion on whether or not to get a new world. So I think we'll have it so you can play on the old world OR have a new start in the new world.

EDIT: whiz, do you have any good server hosts to run my server on?

Actually, this might not be a good idea. We'll end up having the population of the server split across two maps.

If you raised the amount of players on at a time then it shouldnt be too much of a problem.

Re: Phoenix Survival [MC Server] [1.0.0!]

Well
I am FOR a new map. What almost always happens when worlds get carried over? Especially from different RELEASES, not even just versions of the game? There is content that is unavailable for any chunks outside of that area. We've explored this map a lot, and we would need to travel a few thousand blocks out if we wanted to find anything new, such as the fix for pumpkin seeds. Anyone who thinks I just say this because I have nothing of value is dead wrong, I have a mob grinder with stacks of all drops. Take this as the opportunity to make the stuff from the old world BIGGER and BETTER.

Re: Phoenix Survival [MC Server] [1.0.0!]

I don't really understand why you guys are against a new map.

Sure, your stuff will be gone. But if you're so wealthy you hate to lose all that stuff, then you probably have a nice house. And if you have a nice house, why would you want to build anything else? You've already got what you need. Why would you need to mine? Heck, why would you need to do anything except admire your nice house? Really, a lot of people aren't even doing anything other that guarding their wealth.

Yeah, exploring is stupid after a release, and chunks go mad at the border.
