The problem then is that sometimes old threads may need to be posted on. However, New Scratchers often don't understand the specific, rare circumstances when it is permittable to post on an old topic.

You can just report for a mod to open it again.

Even though I'm a new scratcher, I still support, because I agree that most necroposts are by new scratchers. I think that if a topic hasn't been posted on in 6 months, only scratchers can post on it, and after a year it automatically gets closed.
