Are there more Scratchers? Or are there more New Scratchers?

There are certainly many scratchers who have never set foot on the forums

This, and the fact that all the people who ever set foot in the forums before June/July 2010 are Scratchers already, as well as the New Scratchers who have become Scratchers.

Yes... Thank you.

More new scratchers. I think. Because tons of new scratchers register every day, and less than half that number get the scratcher status each day/

I was about to say that it's obvious that there would be more scratchers, but I didn't think about what you said, so after reading your post I think I agree that there will be more new scratchers.

There are definitely more New Scratchers. For starters, that includes all of the population that has registered on the main site but never used the forums. Second, many forum users are commerical spammers that get banned, or in any case, do not become Scratchers. Then you have a slice of population that hops onto the forum planet, posts a couple times, and hops off. Those remain New Scratchers.
Yes, the Scratchers that set foot on the forums *before* June 11 are Scratchers, but I had a look at the Scratch stats and noticed that about half the current population registered *after* June 11. Besides, even out of those before that it is unlikely that all of them visited the forums.
I estimate about 70% Newers and 30% Scratchers.

I find this easier to believe than what everyone else is saying.

More new scratchers, why? Currently 652,467 accounts DON'T EVEN SUBMIT PROJECTS. This means they are technically spam accounts, which means no one really uses them, which means EVEN MORE people than that never have used the forums! Making there at least 652,467 Newbies and less than 271,039 scratchers!
I did mah research!

I reserve usernames. Those aren’t spam accounts, those are just reserved names.
And I already made a topic a while ago about clarification for spam accounts. The Scratch Team says it’s okay to reserve names as long as you aren’t using the other accounts in an unfair way.
I actually have a secret double-identity. And as long as there are no unfair uses, I can keep both accounts. Like, I can’t go on a debate topic with both accounts so I can make my point seem stronger.
EDIT: 1919th post!! Yeah!!
