Seriously, GIVE BUKKIT THE CODE SO THEY CAN DO THEIR MAGIC! I don't like having every single server off because bukkit is dysfunctional. JUST GIVE THEM THE CODE AND NOBODY RAGES

And no, if you have Beta you won't have to pay more. Although people who bought it in Alpha will get all the expansion packs free.

What's an expansion pack?

So that's what I read.
An expansion pack is something that adds more stuff to your game. Like The Sims 3 Pets and Left4Dead's extra campains.

But if there were items and such, they could easily be hacked into SMP.

There's the, you know, illegalness of it all.
It probably won't be similar to the mods already released tho, as notch plans to add full or at least some suport to them in the final release. Most likely more biomes and creatures and such.

Nope, the final release is basicly gonna be 1.9, but with nearly all of the bugs removed and with the title saying "Minecraft 1".
