We have several things we can do to liven up the server...

A. New Survival World - we'd keep the old survival world, just have another one to play on and explore.
B. Creative World - gifting allowed, can build wherever... Separate inventories. Might not be the best idea...
C. PvP world/Fighting world - PvP encouraged, griefing and stealing allowed... Maybe waves of mobs that spawn to make it more difficult?

yes to all 3

I agree.

I don't really want artifacts. I just want a simple PVP battle. It could start out, everywhere's a no-man's land and slowly teams form and they build bases and awesome traps. So each side has giant kingdoms, bombing each other and shooting each other and all that.

And I think you should be able to grief/steal whether the owner is on or not. Partly, to stop arguments about it and partly just for fun.

Then you get people looting and destroying everyone while they're offline then the people whining about it.

It stops no arguments, just creates them.

And artifacts were meant to encourage PvP, but the owner is never online and there's never a fight.

And "a simple PvP battle" is mind boring, you just point and click then either one of you die based on who has the best connection to the server and whoever wins gets that warm feeling inside that they just annoyed someone greatly.

Traps are easy to take apart, there's really just touch plates or tricking people into pressing a button, which will then be avoided and traps will become unused. Glitches mean you can see exactly where people keep stuff, how safe it is and how to get in. People start to whine when they're losing and normally people join and quit when they find out that everyone on is on the other side.

PvP is hard to make fun in minecraft, yes it feels good to bomb and loot someone's house, but it's not so fun when your house is bombed and looted, is it?

That's part of the point, no? Build houses well, put traps disguised as doors, etc. It's not so fun to get sniped and have your stuff stolen, is it? PVP is about annoying the enemy. I might kill someone, and they might get annoyed and ragequit. But it is a lot more fun when they take that as a challenge, and while I go through their chests they stab a diamond sword through my heart. It's all about challenges. if your house gets blown up, blow up their house.

Re: Phoenix Survival [MC Server] [1.0.0!]

My parents have told me I'm not allowed to go on Mincraft Multiplayer as it is one of the worst games for racking up bandwidth, as we don't have unlimited. We are wanting to change ISPs but it'll cost about £700 to end out current contract we're going to sit it out and wait until it expires, I may be allowed to come back if/when we get unlimited.

Can I be re-whitelisted?

In-Game Name: elfin8er

When you joined MC: middle of 1.7.3

How many servers have you been banned from, and why? Yes, I was apart of the Everglade thing, but that's it.

How many other servers do you play on: 3

How many servers are you an OP/mod on:  I'm the owner of one, but that's it.

Do you prefer survival or building: Both but mostly survival
What do you like to build?

There would be arguments either way I suppose. And people who argue when stuff gets stolen are, to be honest, sore losers.

Yes, exactly.

No. A PVP world wouldn't be only about fighting... it would be about making hidden bases and hunting down the enemy. And once 1.0 comes out with potions it'll add a lot more strategy. Choosing the right potions at the right time.
Traps are easy to take apart, there's really just touch plates or tricking people into pressing a button, which will then be avoided and traps will become unused. Yes, they can be easy to take apart. But will the person realise they are a trap before it's too late? And I've never seen people whine about losing... and that could happen with any sort of battle. It sounds like you want it to have less fights so everyone is happy? Look, someone has to lose.
PvP is hard to make fun in minecraft, yes it feels good to bomb and loot someone's house, but it's not so fun when your house is bombed and looted, is it?
I think it's great when you're place is attacked, because it encourages you to keep on the move and get better defences. Otherwise you'd just get nice and cosy once you had a hidden base and never need to leave.

Hidden bases are never well hidden, due to nametags you can pretty much see everything.

I'm not saying less PvP, but something to fight over.

And people don't want to start again, one person could destroy everything and log off, everyone feels annoyed and one person feels good.  The rule isn't to protect owners, it to stop people killing everything while the other person is offline.

Traps are nothing, you look at everything, you watch your step as it may be your last.
Destroy redstone and anything that powers redstone.
Destroy any iron doors you come across.
Trigger traps from safe locations.
Or bomb da' base, if there's no entrance there's no trap.

And "far away" doesn't make a difference, you just walk over, not hard.

Well, why don't you make it so you can't destroy things in certain places (Such as peoples property) and then that wont happen. People can't destroy things like peoples houses, doors, redstone, ect.

And "far away" doesn't make a difference, you just walk over, not hard.

I'll start with the far away thing: If you do it, say, 500 blocks from spawn you should be fine. They'd only find you if:

•They were the right distance from spawn
•They were in the right direction
•You were online, so they saw you
•They happened to be looking at the right time

Yeah, not easy is it?

As for traps:

Sure they might be easy to spot, but you'd have to be alert all the time. There are more ways than just pressure pads, buttons and levers you know. Maybe, inside a base they have invaded they might find a lever beside a wheat farm saying "auto-farm". The lever might actually do that but somewhere far along the redstone trail would be a turn. It would go to the farm but also to some lava trap.

See? Traps can be quite well hidden. And maybe instead of a turn they have rs torches placed so you can't actually see any other tunnels from inside the rs tunnel? I doubt anyone would spot that.
