Scratch Won't make a sound!

When I try to play imported sounds from scratch nothing happens, but the sprite my friend sent does, and they work! Any sugestions?

maybe its the file type of your audio. what file type are you using?

Scratch only supports particular .wav, .aiff, and .mp3 formats. What is the file extension of the audio file? What error do you get?
