I don't know! Perhaps it's yet to be decided? Since 2.0 will be a lot more web-based, with less of a need for downloading, the extension will probably be basically irrelevant, anyhow.

But there's going to be an offline version.

Like Dinoclor said, there will be an offline version, and the ability to download. (otherwise there would be no offline remixing, which would discourage some people to remix, and that’s not what the ST wants) And they’re going to have to make a new extension.

According to Lightnin, it will not be .sb
Instead, it will be something else.

Not for sure.

I read that Scratch will no longer use .sb files, so what now?
My understanding is that it will be a totally different file format. I'm not sure what the extension will be...or even if the format has been totally specified at this point. The focus at the moment is in getting the online features working first. The off-line ability will come later.

I realize that, but there will be less of a need to download, and most people will probably just do it online - hence, for them, the file extension is irrelevant.

But it isn’t for me. That’s why I’m asking, because I’d prefer to use the downloadable version.

Ah. Well, I'm not sure it's decided upon yet.

I made a topic earlier about the Alpha, and the Scratch Team said it doesn’t exist.
Are they trying to hide it from us?
