Before I spend much time with this and get attached, I want to know...
Is 13 too old for Scratch? I don't want to seem like a dork or something like that...

Meh. I thought I heard contempt in your tone. Is this ANOTHER one of those communities that shun people who are older? It seems Ive ran into quite a few of those lately...

Hey, if you're having fun with it and learning stuff, just enjoy it. There are many Scratchers in High School and College and beyond. I myself am 50 and still enjoy clicking those Scratch blocks together!
That's not to say you shouldn't also try your hand with other languages like Python or Ruby or Javascript. The more you know, the more you can do!

I am 17 (18 on march 5) and I still like doing scratch. I just like the scratch community and everyone like my stuff here
I also do several other languages.

I'm 43 learning it so I can teach my son when he is old enough - I do IT for a living and code for a hobby.
I enjoy scratch and the fact that it runs in a web site I see as a plus and I may build myself a little online arcade at the rate I am going.

You can see the age distribution of users on our website, also a wide range of ages:

Hmmmmmm I'm 27 and I love playing the scratch games that the people here are kind enough to create. I didn't know there was an age group for playing scratch games LOL.
Also, I don't think there is many people 13 and younger that are going to be designing scratch games (not that I am a master at making scratch games by any means - I just like to PLAY the games that people here make, since they are way better than any of the games that I could ever make!)

At my school, the 7th and 8th graders use Scratch in computer class. In fact, you have to unless you want to fail . So 12 - 14 year olds use Scratch at my school and like it
(Some are a little older/younger if they skipped a grade, started school late, etc.)

I'm 73, I had my first PC before they invented boxes to put them in and I built my first printer starting with a stepper motor. Scratch can do 2 D animations more readily than any other free software available, learning curves must not be too steep when you are 73. Its the most fun to program since all that early BASIC I enjoyed which if I remember was contained along with everything else on a 16kbyte ROM.

I don't know how many games I'll write, but I'm 45 and working on my first scratch game.
It is a little frustrating because the language is somewhat limited. I'm used to working in C#, VB, or Javascript. But, it is fun so far.

Anyone can use Scratch, whatever their age!!!!!!!! That's the point!!!!!!!!!
(BTW I'm nearly 13. I'm never going to stop doing Scratch EVER!!!!!!! I love the friendly Scratch community and sharing my projects. Making games and animations with Scratch is my kind of fun.)
