.....you've got to be KIDDING ME....
Perhaps because of Steve Jobs' death. People are way too sympathetic about famous people's deaths. In all reality, they are of no significance from anybody else.
Who else thinks this is ridiculous?

um
anything apple
exept a mac
cannot possible be considered a gaming console

Apple without Jobs? no chance.
Jobs pioneered (in other words, bought out before they became popular) almost everything that apple did and stands for.
And it's hard to say that ANYTHING had a bigger influence than some giant box that magically made a box and two paddles appear on the screen...

At least Miyamoto was fifth.

Apple did not invent portable gaming so it is not the largest influence. Who ever invented portable gaming was.
Here it is the first ever portable console http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mattel_Auto_Race.

NO.
This makes no sense in any way.
There is no thought put into this decision.
All that people are doing is thinking of Steve Jobs (very tragic) death and clicking on iPhone for no real reason.

Mass produce my rear end.
Nobody even BOUGHT the thing. There were also no games, and it just sucked. Good luck finding it too if you want it for some sick reason, it's incredibly rare.

Apple didn't invent most things it made, like the MP3 player, for instance, or the computer. Those already existed. But what Apple did, and has been doing since it began, is improving on the technology, making it vastly better.

but they did like no gaming stuff so there's seriously no reason to vote them most influential in gaming history. i would probably vote somebody like nintendo, although they've been fallin behind in recent times, although they may get ahead and back in da business soon

The iPhone revolutionised gaming. I can't think of any previous console that had a touch screen interface (other than the DS which required a stylus).
