My project recently got removed and I got in trouble for posting "Mean Comments" but in fact I never started anything. I was simply expressing my right to express my opinion in public. The fact  that a younger, inexperienced  person misunderstood my comment and did not ask for clarification, and continued on to attack ME with hateful and MEAN comments even after I tried to explain myself in a nice manner. I tried to keep it peaceful and did not want to report them because of this misinterpretation but it was hard when they kept ignoring everything I said and kept on hating me. I thought "Oh, this person must be young and naive and it wouldn't be mature of me to report them for their lack of knowledge on this subject." I was doing THEM a favor. The lack of respect on this site is appalling considering the amount of young children, and the fact that I am getting in trouble for these things that just frustrate me. I just cannot deal with the lack of maturity and.... I just heave sighs every time I scan the comments of a project. It's disappointing, really.

I know why it is for all ages but is it really opening the eyes of these kids or is it just causing more problems? Heck most of these kids do not even design their own scripts; they just download someones game and edit the sprites. It is OK every now and then to take a break and do this but ALL the time? They are not learning the language or being inspired to learn other languages. They are being inspired to steal peoples creations and edit them for their own benefit. And I know that is not what you intend to happen, Scratch Admins, but it's the honest truth of my opinion.

Sorry.

Re: The BIG Problem With Allowing Young Kids On The Site....

Boonaiih, this is not a good place to vent about issues you have with administrative action or the actions of another member. If you disagree with how your situation was dealt with by the Scratch Team, then you should contact them directly.

I understand your frustration with others on the site, but it's a site for young kids. Some of them just aren't at the maturity level to understand things that you might. However, if anyone is acting up, please do everyone a favor and just report them. The Scratch/moderator team (depending on where the offensive material is located) will deal with it accordingly. It's not worth getting yourself caught up in, because regardless of how they were acting, you are still fully responsible for your actions.

Besides, if Scratch's community ever disappoints you, just go read YouTube comments and you'll instantly feel better about how our users conduct themselves.  tongue
