Hosting your scratch software on another website ?

Hello

My question is: can I host your scratch software on [commercial website link taken out by moderator] (windows and mac versions).

Or just setup the download function on my site to redirect to the external site scratch.mit.edu ?

Does your moderator have linkofobia ?

I asked if I could host your scratch software version 1.3.1 on my software / download site ixdownload.com. ?

If he wasnt so fast deleting the link maybe you guys would have understood what it was all about.

Re: Hosting your scratch software on another website ?

Re linkofobia:
The issue is that a lot of professional spammers come to our site to post links to their websites because links coming from a .edu website increase their Google ranking. So that's why we are a bit too sensitive to hyperlinks. Some people have suggested that we could disable hyperlinks completely but we still think there are a lot of valid situations where link to a commercial website is useful. Sorry if you thought we were being too quick in removing your link.

Re putting the Scratch installers somewhere else:
Technically there is nothing that would stop someone from putting the Scratch installer on another site,  but we would prefer to keep the Scratch download in our website for several resasons. One is that we can make sure it's always up to date and the other is that it allows us to keep track of the number of downloads so that we can report to our grant agencies and sponsors.

Thanks a lot for checking!
