It appears to be a test of how to put in bbc code to make it look like somebody else has been editting one of his/her posts. In reality, only Forum Moderators can edit other people's posts.

I wanted to see how close italized text is to the real stuff that shows up when someone edits something because I wanted to know how the Scratch Team made that kind of filter. My guess is it is either built into the code or they implented something that time stamps everything in italics.
