Mentioning Scratch as an Extracurricular Activity?

So I'm doing my college applications, and I'm applying to art schools.  I have a very substantial portfolio from my painting work (that's been my #1 priority), and I have a lot to show for my well-rounded capabilities as an athlete and in academics.  But I want the schools to know that I have experience with graphics design and animation from the Scratch projects I've made, and I want it to seem legitimate.  This would be relevant because art students have to take a variety of classes other than their concentration, and animation and graphics design are popular courses.

I think submitting projects would be out of the question because there is no basis for judging them, but I was thinking that a credible source could maybe write a little rec. for my work.  After all, Scratch is a program from MIT.

Here are some of my projects that best showcase my work with animation and graphics design.
Thirteen Butterflies
Bucket
A/B
Pig

I'm open to any ideas people have about how to incorporate my projects on Scratch into my application.

You could say that you're good at using *insert whatever Scratch uses here* programming.

Re: Mentioning Scratch as an Extracurricular Activity?

How about screenshots or screencapture videos of the game in lieu of sending the actual project?

Maybe you could list Scratch as a programming/design skill rather than just as an extracurricular activity (do list that you are using Scratch as the platform). That would already suggest you have some knowledge for design already.  smile

Re: Mentioning Scratch as an Extracurricular Activity?

That sounds like a really good alternative that highlights what I want to show, cheddargirl.  Thanks for the advice guys.

I think that your butterflies and bees represent that you are an amazing artist.

Meh, throw together a 300 script project, have everyone front page it and BAM! Instant good reviews from the person. You're welcome  cool  It is that easy to get good chances of making it.

I think he's talking about projects he's already made and showcasing their art and gameplay.

Yeah, I've had two projects on the front page before hehe.  I think I'm going to mention it in my extracurricular activities, and provide a link to screen shots.  It would be cool if I could get a little rec letter from somebody at MIT on the Scratch team, though... heheh hint hint
