Read what he said before. It's really not appropriate to talk about things like suicide, etc. with all of the younger Scratchers around.

I tink that it's fine. I know what he said. If younger Scratchers think it's not OK for them to look at, then they shouldn't. Most kids on here aren't so young that they wouldn't be able to look at that sort of stuff.

Different families and people have different ideals and we need to be accommodating. This is an educational children's website, and there are people on the forums as young as seven years old, that I know of. We need to keep discussion friendly for all ages.

We don't feel it's appropriate to put kids as young as 8 in the position of deciding if it is or isn't ok for them to read posts about suicidality or cutting. In order to make that choice, they'd have to read the posts.

Well, I also think that topics like ones about 9/11 aren't great. I'm quite young and one of them got me kinda creeped out. It made me think about the subject for days and days after, and I didn't like it. It was just so horrible.

IMO though, we are obligated to know about those sort of thing. Just my opinion.

That's interesting to hear, and I'm sorry that happened.  sad

However, I think we should keep this thread on topic, and this is a bit of a different issue. If you like, you could make a new, more general discussion about "What is and isn't ok to talk about on a site for all ages?" I'd be interested in seeing what people post.

yes..but you haven't seen all kids in this world
some kids don't know what their parents are okay with or not okay with. For example if their parent was coming home late every day and never talked to them they wouldn't know.

Ah, but Scratch is world wide - so it'd be good to link to resources like this one. Got a link?
