Hello, New Scratchers! My name is Codebreaker, and I'm sort of a new scratcher too. I've only made one project so far, but I'm bound to make more! I know that at first, Scratch can seem huge, but really, it's just a group of people like you, who want to simply CREATE. Scratch is like an Urban Environment, ready to be explored. Before you know it, you're going to be creating fun, creative games, animations, and much more! If you need any help, post it in the forums! There are many different forums, each of them with a different purpose in mind. Here are most of the forums, and how to use them:
1) Announcements
The announcements post should be seldom used, unless you want to say something really important. Otherwise, the announcements post is like a Newspaper. You read it to see what's going on.
2) New Scratch Members
This is where you can post things that you think are going to help New Scratchers. You can also post things here if you are a New Scratcher and want some guidance.
3) Show and Tell
This is were you can advertise your projects and galleries. Here are a few tips:
Be dramatic! Advertise like you've never advertised before, especially if you've never advertised before!
Try to make people find a reason to want to go to your project.
LINK LINK LINK! You have to link to your project!
Say that you're wearing a Tuxedo. Things always go better when you're wearing a Tuxedo.
4) FAQ
Frequently asked questions. Go here if you have a question that you think has been asked before.
5) All About Scratch
Any Question, Any Time! This is what the All About Scratch post is for.
6) Advanced Topics
Wanna get technical? This is the place to go! If you have questions about how Scratch was made, this is the post for you.
7) Suggestions
Do you have a change that you would like to see done for the Scratch Website, or for Scratch? Post it here!
8) Troubleshooting
Have you had any trouble with Scratch? Like, Bugs and Virus's? Well, post your problem here.
9) Sensor Boards
Topics relating to Scratch Boards, PicoBoards, and Scratch sensing and responding to things happening in the world around it.
10) Collaboration
Wanna work on a project with someone? Have an idea that you would like to publish, but need some help from someone here? Well come here and try to find a partner here.
11) Requests
If you want some Art or something else, post it here. NOTE: DO NOT CONFUSE THIS WITH THE COLLABORATION TOPIC!
12) Project Ideas
Stumped? You can find great project ideas at this post. Just make sure to add your own kind of unique twist to it, to make it yours.
13) Miscellaneous
Go here if you have a topic that isn't directly related to Scratch.
Hope I helped!

Very very nice, man.

Pretty good, but I like it when Scratchers wait until they have atleast 100 posts and are a Scratcher before they make a guide. Still, you touch base with almost every aspect, so, good job!

Great tips! This should be stickied, but you should change the name, people might think you need help

How do you make your own forum?

I'm guessing you mean topic; a forum is the place you post topics in. Above all the other topics, on the right, there's a button saying 'post new topic'.

A nice index into the forums! A couple of things that would make this even more useful, perhaps:
1. You might want to mention that only Scratch Team members make topics in Announcements - but other people can add posts to the topics, unless the topic is closed.
2. Why not make the forum area names (Announcements, Suggestions, etc.) links to the actual forum areas? That would be really cool and make the document more useful. If you don't know how to make the BB code, to do that, I'm sure somebody here can help you out. Here's a sample for Announcements:
[url=http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewforum.php?id=10]Announcements[/url]
3. Also, All About Scratch is for any "Scratch related question" - not just "any question". Since you have lots of space in this document, let's make sure that the categories are really accurate and as detailed as they need to be.
4. Please mention that Advanced Topics can include topics about Scratch and modified versions of Scratch, as well as topics in other computer languages.
5. Please mention that Requests is also for people that want to offer services to others - such as doing artwork, making animated icons, that sort of thing. What you have now is true - it's for people to ask for things. But it's also for people to offer things.

Paddle, s/he can't edit yet.
Awesome guide, and I agree with P2S's suggestions, though... (warning: Wiki about to be mentioned) maybe you should link to the pages on the Scratch Wiki. XD

You're right! Guess any edits will have to wait for a bit. I like your Wiki suggestion too, thanks.

There is no 1-month rule. took me 2 weeks of actually being forum-active to get it.
Ohhh... I thought there was. Well, that's a relief!!! What do you have to post like 40 posts a day?
