Hey
What really bothers me is that whenever I see somebody has downloaded my project, I can't see who downloaded it. I don't mind people downloading my stuff, but wish I could see who was.
Any supporters?

What if someone downloads the project while they're logged out?

You technically have to be logged in to download a project, (although it's easy to bypass that) so it shouldn't be much of an issue in that aspect.

You just have to add /downloadsb to the URL...what if someone did that without being logged in?

if someone did that without being logged in, I don't think it counts as a download, does it?
So did I...but log out and see which works for you (using Featured project Squared2 as an example):
http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/taylor3 … 6/download
http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/taylor3 … downloadsb

Support.
It could say "Anonymous user" or something like that in the count if you added /downloadsb.
Yay!!!

I don't really see too much use in that. It's handy information, but it's not exactly... applicable, eh?
Yeah, it's not that useful, but I am always curious

You're right that it's not that useful, but YouTube, for example, has statistics for videos that go much further in depth.

I hate to sound so dumb, but, what in the world are you talking about? I don't really get what you mean about YouTube videos having statistics for videos that go much farther in depth. What does that have to do with what I was talking about?
Sorry, I hope I didn't sound too mean right there.

The above poster was comparing Scratch's statistics with YouTube's.
But what you have to remember is that YouTube is a huge corporation with billions and billions of dollars to spare and thousands of employees. Scratch has less than a hundred employees and very limited funds.

fungirl123: You are correct. Sorry that I didn't explain well. YouTube gives you stats (through a feature called Insight) like:
-male vs. female viewers
-locations (by country) of viewers
-age of viewers
coolstuff: How would this cost anything?

Because it costs money to run a server, especially if it's doing more work, and it costs money to get features such as this developed.

OK, this isn't really necessary anyway.
