Thirdly, why do you think it's only the mushroom biome that will cause your worlds to stop working?
Fourth-ly, Your 1.8 worlds will still work with 1.9, you just won't get the new stuff spawned in it, like the mushroom biome.
Also, minecraft is coming out the 11th, when Skyrim comes out.Nope. It's coming out on teh 18th.
