+1 Free love its from contests is the only reason they have decency.

Decency: behavior that conforms to accepted standards of morality or respectability
The point (in my opinion) is that offering love-its as a reward makes being "famous" the overriding goal of taking part in a context (and ultimately for being a Scratcher?), when the real reason is to have fun. If you get love-its for winning a contest, those love-its are not being given due to true and honest feelings. It seems to go against the openness and friendliness that the Scratch teem tries to support and help the overly-competitive turn fame into a sport.
If you want to know my honest feelings, I think fame is a bit like money. Those without it would love to know what its like, and constantly try to achieve it. But fame is hollow, and, quite frankly, taking part in a contest for the sole purpose of love-its seems shallow.
You might say: "he doesn't know what he's talking about. He's not famous. I bet he even tried (or even still tries) to become famous". There is truth in every one of those statements. I definitely went through a phase when I really wanted fame. I even entered a contest, not for the love-its it offered but simply to compete. In fact, when I won, I turned the love-its down. As I've moved away from Scratch I've realized that I didn't get any completeness from trying to achieve my goal. I had three featured projects, one project with over 100 comments, and a handful with more than 300 views, but you know what? I don't believe it was worth it. I believe that I honestly gained my fame, slowly and steadily. It still didn't fulfill my desire to be known. I don't think you know how empty fame is until you realize: "three months ago, I'd have been astounded by __ number of love-its, but now I'm not", and realize that fame is ever elusive.
My point? That, if the emptiness I felt at winning honest fame is anything similar to what everyone feels, I don't think supporting a dishonest way of trying to get "famous" is moral, and therefore, not decent.
Whoops, that might have been a rant

Hmmmm...
Let's see here...
Just because something makes you happy doesn't mean it's right.
That is not right, giving out love its instead of giving love its if you actually like the project.
If people misuse love its like that, a love it really loses its meaning.
Think about that.

Alright! Let's do it! I'll get started on it.
I support this. Can I do something in the project? Like art?

"Love already has a value"

Thats kinda 2/5 of the problem with love its. 1/5 is the 'free love its' and 2/5 is in Contests

this isn't going to work.
even if everyone joins there will always be a few who will do it.

Everything that's solved isn't solved completely.
