Skirm, the current map has taken a beating. Its one of those occasions where people got onto our map while it wasn't accessible, and messed around with it. Theres griefing practically everywhere.
I'm going to continue my evaluation.
I think its time to get a new map, transfer in new spawn though.

NoCheat FTW!
The server explodified for some reason. I told it to restart 5 minutes ago, and now it's going through initializing the databases (which happens BEFORE the plugins even load), and it's taking really long, as usual. It might be 5 or 10 more minutes before it comes up. >_>
Oh wait, it's up now.

Every time I enter the server, it makes me join as invisible and resets my game mode to survival, meaning I have to do /vanish and !gamemode every time I join the server.
Also,
CButD: New CraftBukkit Build 1337 available.
Restart the Server to download.

I know, I know >_<
And I know about those others too. Well, not the /vanish one.
I need to take an axe to a bunch of plugins ;__;

Skirm, AoW IS NAO DIRECTING US BACK TO THE WHITELISTED SERVER! ARRRRRGGHHHH!
I was playing (actually, yeti was shooting me because I wouldn't give him iron,(no iConomy)), and I was explaining a solution, and I got Read Timed out. Now it's that whitelisted server.

That's what seems to happen when the server is down.
You called, Nex?
I'm restarting the server BTW.

So a new map? I looked around some more. So much griefing that took place over a long period of time. We need to get a fresh start, and step up our game.
We need to make our server awesome looking again.

Yes. But there's so much work to do... *groans*
Can someone slap me around a bit to reduce my laziness?
BTW, helli will prolly be made admin.
And too many people are thinking that promotions to Trusted and Handout Person are mandatory and are inevitable. Well, guess what? They're not. A mod or admin has full right to not promote someone to Trusted if they're deemed not mature enough or something.
Also, people are starting to ask if they can be mods. Handout People are even less mandatory than Trusted, and we don't just go hiring mods (and admins, for that matter) at random (or after a certain period of time) like other servers do. I'm actually going to be serious in who I pick to be a Handout Person or admin. I'm not going to hire n00bs who just happen to have been on the server for a while but don't know how half the server works and don't stick to all the rules. (Of course, due to the amount of plugins we have, most people don't know how half the server works anyway, but you get what I mean
)
So, the bottom line is, don't (or at least try to avoid) asking to be Trusted or a Handout Person (and don't even think about asking to be a Handout Person). I or a mod or admin will notice you if you stand out in the community (remember, one of our main goals is to be a community and not just a bunch of floating players), and they'll promote you accordingly as they see fit. (That being said, I think I need to get the mods/admins brushed up on how much thought you should put into promoting someone and how selective you should be.)
I think I need to push that community thing more. That's why [IHateBrackets(InTitlesWhereALotOfServersHaveThem)]

I updated the MOTD (the vanilla one that appears on the server page
) so more people would notice it. And the "bags" thing isn't a joke--I'm going to have a command where people can put stuff in storage and then take it out in the new world (as it'll persist).

Oh noes! That other server stole your IP just a few minutes ago!
IT'S THE END OF THE WORLDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDno it isn't
But really, AGAIN?

Okay, maybe I was wrong that saving a schematic would lag.
And that's just what happens when the server is down, iham. >_>

You should look up reviews about Art of War Central. And tell us some of them.

Bumpzorz.
Maybe I should get started on making the bag command.
So, how much should we change commands and stuff?
I'm thinking of ditching SimpleServer commands in favor of others...at least some commands. CustAuth (allows you to join when minecraft.net is down) is basically the only reason I'm keeping SimpleServer.

We have Lockette, and it's not like we're keeping the old world
And either put your server up or get on mine.

Not really, just wanted discussion. I'm on the chatbox now, BTW.

Should we ditch SimpleServer? It'd involve getting used to new commands, but we wouldn't have chat and command glitches. I also am going to find a suitable replacement for CustAuth.
Offline
I found a plugin to replace CustAuth: MixedModeAuth.
* Skirmisher2048 thinks SimpleServer is getting tossed out the figurative window

Is it simpleserver that does aliases? if it's not, couldn't you make aliases, such as !tell, /tell, or !t, /t, so that all we would have to get used to is the slash?

I hope bookworm is able to be kept in the files when we reset the map, because I need to keep my rule book. I worked hard on that.
