Chapter One
The wind blew in Switchblade's face as stood on the summit of the mountain.
"Nick," he called, "come on, slowpoke! The Titanium Soldier isn't gonna just stand there waiting for us to attack him!"
"I'm coming!" he replied.
He soon emerged from the whiteness of the raging blizzard.
"Did you see him yet?" Supernova questioned.
"Nope, haven't seen anything but snow for a couple hours," Switchblade replied.
Minutes passed. Hours. Still, nothing.
"Can we go back now?" Supernova pleaded, "My toes are about to freeze off."
Switchblade smirked. "You use that excuse every time."
"Okay fine, ten more minutes?"
"Twenty."
"Fifteen."
"Deal."
Suddenly, they heard something move.
"What was that?" Supernova said, startled.
"I don't know, let's go check it out."
They walked towards the sound of the rustling. A cave soon emerged from the snow, with a shadow of something looming on the wall.
"Should we go in?" asked Supernova, with a hint of fear in his voice.
"Yeah."
Shivering of fear and frostbite, the two heroes walked into the cave. The shadow got closer and closer.
"What do you want," a gruff voice from the cave growled.
"W-w-we... a-a-re..." Supernova's voice trailed off.
"What, you think I’m gonna hurt you?"
"Actually-" Supernova was cut off.
"No, why would we think that?" Switchblade lied.
“The name’s Brian, AKA, Dead Thunder, Super Hero Corps., southeast Canada division.”
“And we’re Switchblade and Supernova, but you can call us Luke and Nick,” Switchblade explained.
“Super Hero Corps., New England division,” Supernova added.
“You guys lookin’ for the Titanium Soldier?” Dead Thunder asked.
“Yeah,” Switchblade answered, “How’d you know?”
“I guess we’re both lookin’ for him, then,” He replied.
“This guy must be a pretty big problem, then,” Supernova said.
“Why are you in this cave, anyway?” Switchblade questioned, “Don’t you need to find the Titanium Soldier?”
“I was gonna,” Dead Thunder, “But I got hurt trying to climb up a mountain, so I went to this cave.”
“Want us to take you to SHCNED Headquarters?” he asked, feeling slightly sorry for the hero, “From there, we can get you back to your headquarters.”
“No, it’s fine, you don’t have to fail your mission just to save me. Just go find that villain, kay?”
“Okay.”
They started walking out of the cave.
“Do you think we should’ve just taken him back to the HQ anyway?” Switchblade said regretfully.
“Nah, I’m sure he’ll be fine,” Supernova assured him.
Suddenly, when they were about a quarter of a mile away, they saw a gigantic explosion near the cave.
“What was that?!” Supernova shouted.
“I don’t know,” replied Switchblade confidently, “but I’m going to find out.”
Large wings emerged from the back of his silver suit as he started running back towards the cave. When he jumped up, a blue flame came out of his wings and he started flying. He zoomed up through the air with great speed trying to find the cave. Finally, he came to a huge crater in the snow where the cave used to be.
“Brian?!” He called, “Where are you?!”
He spent the next two hours searching for the hero, but he couldn’t find him. Supernova was still waiting at the other side of the mountain wondering what happened to Switchblade.
“Oh come on,” he said to himself, “he has to be done searching by now.”
Meanwhile, just as Supernova was about to give up hope, he made an amazing discovery. When he brushed away some snow, he found something shiny, something metal: a door.
* * *
Dark Thunder never knew a room could be this dark. Adding to his fear, it was very cold, well under 20 degrees. He was chained to a metal pole in the middle of his stainless steel cell deep underground. He didn’t know exactly how he got inside the room, he just woke up and found himself here.
