Yea, that's a better idea. Ask them to choose their best project. Well, think about it like this: How CAN we vote on anyone if we don't want to offend them?
OH! I know. You know how some professional sports leagues have a 'minor' or 'developmental' league? We could kind of form that kind of systemfor TeamEarth. We could call it ,uh....Developmental TeamEarth. There could be different levels of teams (i.e. B-Team, C-Team) if we get an overflow of people who want to join TeamEarth. All the people who lose in the contest could be sent here. Kamesh could check up on them, choose one of us to mentor/monitor them. We could create an account for them, and they can make their own projects. Kamesh can get them started by giving them different goals, incintives and everything. Once Kamesh notices someone on a Developmental TeamEarth team is ready to join TeamEarth, we can all vote to see if they are ready to be apart of TeamEarth. We would also do the same thing if someone from C-Team needs to join B-Team. How do you like that? Not really. What if we made a quiz which had programming questions in it, and the people who got the highest code scores could join?
Dinoclor, I'm trying to find a solution to blob saying he can't think of a way of voting on people joining TeamEarth without offending them. That was my solution.

I'll take care of the new members. What we need to do right now, is focus on starting our project. Ads, I talked to dasblokenchaf and he replied asking what forum page we use.

What I meant was, in a collaboration team leagues don't work.

I know, I was just thinking we could build on that if we ever want to finilize our idea for a Scracth Company.

Hi! It's great to be in team earth again. I wasn't on this page for ages, so please bring me up to speed. I only want to know 2 things: 1. What is the next project about? 2. Where can I help?

Our next project is a remake of the Elite game. Here is a basic summary:
To play the game, you'd need a copy of DOSBox, I believe. It's a lot of retro fun; you should definitely try it if you can!
In terms of a clone, I was thinking of cloning the game mechanics - the trading and everything. The 3D is back from the days of BBC computers, so the planets are just big coloured circles, so I'm sure we could figure something out. The spaceships are a little harder; but to be honest, if 3D really didn't work, switching it to 2D wouldn't really hurt it too much.
So yes, definitely making up our own planets, goods to trade, etc.
So, there are a few main parts we'd need to make.
* A trading system, with a list of goods. You can only access this from the space station. The prices and supply of each good vary from planet to planet -- so a planet with more supply will buy and sell the good for less; and, for example, an "agricultural" planet has a greater supply of food, and there are "industrial" planets and so on. You can also buy upgrades for the ship, such as guns and fuel for the hyperdrive.
* There's a map of nearby stars. Each star has a single planet orbiting it. Your spaceship has a hyperdrive to jump between star systems, but it only works some way out from the planet. You use the map to select one to jump to. We need a cool hyperspace effect, too
* The flying-the-spaceship part itself. As I said, the planets were just big coloured circles in the original -- I'll have a play and see if I can come up with anything, which I'm sure we can. If not, 2D would still be kinda okay, I guess -- and actually allow us better graphics and easier coding, etc...
* There are other spaceships, some friendly ships that you could attack and steal from, and some pirate ships that attack you. You encounter these when flying around the star system. Again, these are harder to do in 3D, but I might have a play with Blender and see if I can work something out.
* The space station is, again, difficult (as is docking with the space station in the actual game ), but we could just have it so when you fly close enough to the planet, it counts you as landed on it.
There's a bunch of other stuff, like missiles that can lock onto enemy ships, and a rating system (which gives the game the name "Elite") -- but you can always look on Wikipedia or, better still, play the actual game.
Having thought about it, 2D might be more manageable, if perhaps not as much fun.
This is quoted from Blob. Right now it is just getting started, so if you could help with the organization, ideas, and designs that would be great!

Cool idea. The part in the game where you fly to planets could be a bit like BoltBaits awsome Star Trek game. If you haven't already, please check it out.
BTW: Have you already a name for it? I whouldn't call it just "Elite" or "Elite scratched". I think we should also use our own ideas to make this game better and more unique than a simple remake. I like how 08jackt called his "Minecraft" remake not just "Minecraft", but "Project Mine". We could do something like that for our game. Here are some examples: "Project Starship", "The Future" or "Deep In Space".

Hey guys, I know I'm not Kamesh, but I think we really need to get organized for our upcoming project. We have no deadline, so we have all the time in the world. However, once we release our TeamEarth Elite Trailer, people will be asking, "When will it come out?" constantly. So I believe we strictly need to choose how each and every one of us will contribute to this project, and stick to those contributions. The only time we need to do someone else's work is if they become absent or if they need help. Remember, this is different from Collab Camp; We Have No Deadline. But we also still have to remember people will be bugging us about Elite when we release the trailer, so we may also need to think about when we should release the trailer.

That being said, I have taken the liberty to let you guys decide how you will help by choosing things to do from this list:
Scripting (Animation, Simulation)
Art (This Includes 3D objects, background If We decide to Use It)
Music (Includes Sound Effects)
Story(board) (Plot i.e Beginning, Ending)
This gives us 4 jobs. Keep in mind we have 10 members. So, that means 2 people can do Scripting, Art, Music, and Story each, and we can each a 'back-up' or 'replacement' job, just in case someone needs help of becomes absent. So a sign-up list would look like this:
Scripting (1 Spot Left, 1 Replacement Spot Left):
Ads98
Art (1 Spot Left, 1 Replacement Spot Left):
Ads98
Music (2 Spots Left):
Ads98(Replacement Job)
Storyboard (2 Spots Left, 1 Replacement Spot Left):
How do you like it? Just Copy the list above, sign up, and update how many spots are left. Tell me if I'm being too bossy.
Thanks, good job (even though I have been trying to do this for a week now XD)
Like I said before and Ads said, we need deadlines- not for the entire project, but when we will finish the art by, when we will finish the music by etc. I can help out on the art part, and anything else.

For storyboard, elite is supposed to be open-ended.
Oh, yeah, forgot about that. Um, how about we get rid of storyboard? That leaves us with 3 jobs. How about we have 4 people work on scripting, and 3 people work on the other jobs, because I feel we'll need EXTRA help with scripting.

I'm guessing that Blob will want to work on programming as well. I'll let you know about the new members ASAP so they can help in the programming.

Yes, it is.
There isn't really a story, as such.

Yes, he will. He might have a go at programming the 3D at some point — I'm afraid I can't do anything for a while, though, as I have some stuff to do.
In the meantime, see if you can't adapt this to have much larger planets.

Sorry, I don't think Kamesh was trying to be rude. It's just that I don't think he's interested in your collab. I do, however, appreciate you trying to give us some ideas. Thank you.

If someone can tell me how to use Blender, i would help.
Also, if you need an custom screaming sound, i can do a pretty good one... (btw, only dogs can hear it
) . But i can lower its pitch.)

I don't use Blender, but I use 3ds max. If you have used a 3d Modeling software before, most of them are straight forward. Blob8108 could probably help you with Blender. However, we can always use you for music (especially for the screaming sound).
Hey, I just noticed only 6 of our 10 members have posted this week....
