Pennsylvania Scratch Meetup

I think It would be nice to have a meeting in Pennsylvania. I really want to go to one and I think we should discuss about Pennsylvania here. What do you scratchers think?

Re: Pennsylvania Scratch Meetup

I would love to have one in Pennsylvania. I live east of the applachian mountains, so if you live east of them, I could go. Can you make one?

Dear Scratch Users,
I'm done with scratch, or at least making projects. I have made one last big game, thats both fun and teaches a lesson about water. It'd mean a lot if you gave me feedback.                              http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/bosox397/569201

Re: Pennsylvania Scratch Meetup

Hi,
I have been working with Scratch, also in an isolated way and teach at an independent school just outside of Philly.  I really want ot host a Scratch Day but worry that I don't have enough experience with Scratch.  I can organize the event if I can get the people willing to lead the groups...

Re: Pennsylvania Scratch Meetup

What kind of group would you be interested in hosting?  I have to warn you that I work in a Quaker School so we couldn't use anything violent as examples.

Re: Pennsylvania Scratch Meetup

Okay, so I am working with the school administrators and hopefully some other key people to get this going and will let you know the minute I know.  In the meantime I do want it to be open to teachers, parents and students so if you have any ideas I would appreciate them.  Right now I think there may be tracks that are specific to teachers.  What we are interested in, besides sharing is showing teachers how they can incorporate this into thier classrooms.  So if you think you would like to host a group we will need a topic, an outline of what you want to share and what you would need. Also, if you are a student we would need parental permisssion.

Re: Pennsylvania Scratch Meetup

Okay, from a student perspective what would you like to see?  What type of groups would you like to lead? Or what would you like to particpate in?  Would you want to particpate in groups that would mesh parents, teachers and students?  Would you like to throw out ideas of how this can be used in school?  I will be posting more as we go.

Re: Pennsylvania Scratch Meetup

I would like to see how to get more school to use Scratch even High SChools, instead of teaching the Java and Flash maybe add in Scratch. How to influence them. Also I would like to be in a group that would be just students, and then later a group mixed in with all.

Re: Pennsylvania Scratch Meetup

I just don't get why you don't got to NYC if you live pretty close to it. How long does it take to drive there? 2 hours? It would take me atleast 7 hours by driving to get to the nearest Scratch day event.

Re: Pennsylvania Scratch Meetup

I would never drive 2 HOURS for something for scratch, mostly because my parents my never let me. Probably the farthest would be 45 minutes

We will officially be announcing it soon and for now are calling for ideas for presentations or conversations.   Do you have a workshop you think you could lead? Do you have a conversation you would like to see happen? Here is the form we are using.  We look forward to hearing from you.
