Would this be legal to upload Scratch there?

We wish!! We've been talking with various folks from Ubuntu and other distros, and trying to find a way to make this possible. The short version of the story is that we probably need to license Scratch under a standard open source license, like the GPL v3, before it is acceptable to put it in a repository. We hope to do that in the not too distant future, but there are many gears that have to grind first. As soon as we're ready though, we'll make an announcement and ask open source contributors to help us with the packaging and stuff.

GNU GPL v2
GNU GPL v3
GNU LGPL v2.1

Academic Free License
Artistic License 1.0

Mozilla Public License
Open Font License v1.1
Open Software License v3.0

Other Open Source
Any chance you (or I) can publish Scratch under one of those?
If yes, I will be happy to do it for you
EDIT: Wait! i found out you can write your own licence with "Other Open Source", and wrote yours down (found in the .deb package).
I'm waiting for you to say yes, then i will click on the 'submit for rewiew' button

Thanks for your enthusiasm! Unfortunately, it's not as simple as it may seem. We've already spoken to Ubuntu about including with our current license, but we got stuck on some legal stuff, which is why we're looking at using an OSI approved license.
We have to get a lot of people to sign off on a license change, and there's the matter of trademark protections. But we're making progress. We'll definitely make a public announcement when we make the change! (And then we'll be needing help from folks like you to help improve and maintain our linux package).
