ugh

I scored 58% on a Study Island Reading assessment.

A freakin' READING assessment.

READING is supposed to be my major strong point, and I'm supposedly GIFTED, but NO. NO!

I HAVE to get some ugly grade.  sad  Now I'll feel guilty whether or not I tell my parents, and knowing my parents they'll nag me about it for weeks.

WEEKS.

What am I supposed to do now? If I tell it now it'll ruin my family's vacation that starts tomorrow..

..Please help! I feel like I'm going to vomit or faint..

Re: ugh

Wait until vacation's over. Then tell them.

How often do you get tested?

Re: ugh

Tell your parents. They'll get mad if they find out and you don't, plus they probably won't be mad at you. Its OK. Once I got a 77 in reading, and I am also gifted.

Well, the annoying thing is that this was my second chance, because there was some mixup and the first test results were cleared, but the first test results were 75% - not that bad  sad

Just..ugh.

I'm sure there'll be worse situations, but if I can't handle this how am I going to handle college?

Re: ugh

I got a C- on some math test in 3rd grade, and I've been in gifted since Kindergarten.
That was my worst test.

@spongebob123: Grade?

Well, that wasn't nice.

I was asking for advice on what to do, since I'm inexperienced in such things, so..

@spongebob123: Grade?

Um, it's online, so I'm not sure what the letter grade would be.

Re: ugh

Tell them. Not telling will make things worse for when they find out. Trust me, I know.

Like I said, its alright. If you wern't studying, its not, but if the test was hard or you just got bad grades for some reason, they won't hate you. They will still love you for who you are, even if you don't get good grades.

It's just..I wish I could at LEAST review what I got wrong, but this is unfair.

But, it's not a PSSA or whatever, so it's not as important.

Re: ugh

As long as you get good grades until the end of quarter/half of year, it should average to a decent grade.

smile  Ok then.

I mean, not to brag, but I have been a pretty exceptional student.. There's been a suspicious increase in correct test scores in my school since I've joined, and I get mostly 100%'s on my lesson assessments. So I won't worry  smile

Re: ugh

When I did Study Island in 4th grade, it let me review what I got wrong...
But I never took actual tests on it.

Re: ugh

People have to go down every once and a while. Its normal to get an 58% every once and a while. Just work harder! and the grade will go up.

Well, I think I have more important problems, and there are smart kids who get bad grades ALL the time, so I'm not in the worst situation.  hmm

This.
They'll be more mad if you don't tell them then they will if you go up to them and say:
"Dearest mother and father. I scored a 58 on my test. I love you  big_smile "
Don't really say it like that.

"Mom and/or Dad. I wanted to tell you this before I forgot. I got a 58 on my reading test.
I really tried, and I hope you're not mad.  I know it's my strong subject, maybe I just wasn't on my game today."
Try something like that  wink
